1 ISRO commissions world's third largest hypersonic wind tunnel A wind tunnel is used to study the effects of air flowing past a solid object—in ISRO's case, space vehicles. ISRO chairman AS Kiran Kumar has also commissioned two facilities—a one-metre Hypersonic Wind Tunnel and a one-metre Shock Tunnel
2 World Bank signs USD 100 million credit agreement with Centre & Uttarakhand Most public health facilities in the middle and upper mountainous areas of Uttarakhand are unable to function optimally. The project also aims to reduce the financial risk for its citizens and make affordable, quality health care available to all.
3 South Indian Bank introduces Aadhar-based payment app To promote cashless digital transactions, South Indian Bank (SIB) has introduced Aadhar-based payment in its Unified Payment Interface (UPI) mobile application- 'SIB M-Pay'.
4 World Tuberculosis Day observed on 24th March. he main aim behind the celebration of this day is to fight tuberculosis and eradicate this deadly disease that has been claiming millions of lives. World TB Day is one of eight official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization (WHO). The theme for World Tuberculosis Day 2017 is ‘Unite to End TB’.
5 Suresh Prabhu announced scaling up of ‘VIKALP Scheme’ for Railway Passengers The scheme will become effective on 1st April 2017. Prabhu has also released the Water Management Policy of Indian Railways to improve water use efficiency by setting up water recycling plants, rainwater harvesting plants, sewage treatment plants and effluent treatment plants on railway land.
6 Raghu Rai honored with Lifetime Achievement at National Photography Awards He began his career in photography in 1965 and served as the Director of Photography for India Today. Rai has also served on the jury of World Press Photo and UNESCO’s International Photo Contest. He is known for his books, Raghu Rai's India: Reflections in Colour and Reflections in Black and White.
7 India and ADB Signed $350 Million Loan for Roads in Madhya Pradesh The loan is for improving about 1,500 kilometers of major district roads in Madhya Pradesh in line with the State’s Road Development Plan. The Project will involve upgrading roads with concrete pavements, strengthening culverts and bridges, and maintaining the improved road assets for a period of five years.
8 RBI appointment of T S Anantharaman as part-time Chairman of the bank. Anantharaman has been holding the position of Non-Executive Director of the bank since August 28, 2009. He is a senior chartered accountant. At present, he is an investment consultant and director of number of other companies and institutions
9 Pawan Hans to start 'Dilli Darshan' chopper rides at Rs 2,500 National chopper operator Pawan Hans is set to launch its "Delhi Darshan" rides with a 10-minute sortie costing Rs 2,499 per person. Besides, the state-owned aviation firm will also offer a 20-minute helicopter ride for Rs 4,999.
10 Ankur Mittal wins gold in double trap at ISSF World Cup Young Indian shooter Ankur Mittal, defeated rival James Willett, and bagged the first World Cup gold medal of his career in double trap at the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup. The event was held in Acapulco, Mexico. Ankur Mittal finished with a tally of 75 hits, also matching the World Record set by Willett at last month’s competition in New Delhi. However, this time the 21-year-old Willett finished with 73 hits.
