1. IRDAI has launched a web portal 'isnp.irda.gov.in for insurers. It will allow them to register and sell policies online. The portal 'isnp.irda.gov.in' is also open to intermediaries in the insurance business. In March 2017, IRDAI had issued guidelines on e-commerce for the insurance sector. Insurance companies, brokers, and corporate agents can sell and service insurance policies through this platform. |
2. Postal department, SBI join hands to promote cashless transactions. It is to promote 'SBI buddy e-wallet' and Point of Sale (POS) machines for cashless transactions at post office counters while booking speed post and registered post items. |
3. Himachal Pradesh selected for the Krishi Karman Award 2015-16. It is for the commendable increase in food grains production. Himachal Pradesh is being selected for this award for the third time. According to the State Agriculture Minister Sujan Singh Pathania, during last five years, the total food grains production has increased from 14.94 lakh tonne to 16.34 lakh tonne. |
4. Haryana government has launched ‘Operation Durga’ to ensure women safety in the state. Under this operation, the 'Flying Squad' is patrolling those areas where anti-social elements are committing crimes against women. The team is formed by Chief Minister of Haryana Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar. |
5. Narendra Modi launches 75 cashless townships across 12 states. The towns span across 12 states contributing to around 1.5 lakh cashless transactions per day and around 5.5 crore transactions a year. Some of the prominent townships include those of state- owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC), NTPCBSE -0.18 %, SAILBSE -2.97 % and BHEL, as also those of cooperative firms like IFFCO and KRIBHCO. |

8. SpiceJet partners with HSBC India to offer payments via UPI. The integration will allow SpiceJet passengers to use their unique UPI IDs, i.e. virtual payment address, to pay for the bookings made on the SpiceJet website. This payment solution, implemented by HSBC Bank on the SpiceJet network, will be over and above the net banking options available to the customers |

10. France, India signed an agreement to upgrade Railways. The French Minister of State for Transport Alain Vidalies signed an agreement with Indian Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu for collaboration in railway areas such as high-speed and semi-high speed rail, modernisation of current operations and infrastructure, station renovation and operations, suburban trains and safety systems. |
