1. Maharashtra has become the first state to launch a special awareness drive to ensure transgenders to register as voters .

The state branch of the Election Commission of India (ECI) launched the drive on April 15, celebrated as Third Gender Day. According to ECI officials, despite the approximate population of third genders in Maharashtra being pegged at more than 10 lakh, only about 1,700 are registered voters.

2. Manipur CM launched 2 web applications to check corruption and keep track of government activities.

The two web applications were Anti-Corruption Cell and Digital Application for Review by Public And Nation (DARPAN). The two web applications would monitor all government funded projects and ensure transparency and accountability.

3. Philippine President ‘Rodrigo Duterte’ has won Time magazine's readers' poll of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Duterte received 5% of “yes” votes in the online poll that started in the last week of March and closed on Monday (Manila time). US Sen. Bernie Sanders and Russian President Vladimir Putin won the reader poll in 2016 and 2015, respectively.

4. Trupti Jain has won 2017 prestigious ‘Cartier Women’s Initiative Award’.

It is for providing women working on farms with water management solutions and protecting small farmers against droughts and flash floods.

5. Employees Provident Fund (EPF) rate of interest will be 8.65% 2016-17.

The Finance Ministry have permitted the Labour Ministry to go ahead with 8.65% rate of interest on Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) for 2016-17, which will benefit over four crore EPFO members.

6. Prakash Javadekar to launch RUSA Portal, Mobile App in new delhi.

Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), and mobile app will act as a one-stop for States’ Higher Education Plans, the decision of the States’ Higher Education Councils and details of the resources under this scheme.

7. India’s GDP is expected to spike to 7.2% in the 2017-18 financial year, according to world bank.

according to a new World Bank report titled “Globalization Backlash”. The international agency forecast that India’s economic growth will rise gradually to 7.7% in 2019-’20, underpinned by a recovery in private investments. The World Bank analysis, however, has warned against “significant risks to India’s favourable growth outlook.

8. Suresh Prabhu launches the first-ever train with glass roof coaches Visakhapatnam-Araku’ route.

It has started by video conferencing from Bhubaneswar (Odisha). Vistadome coach launched with an aim to provide a delightful travelling experience of the picturesque Araku valley.

9. World's oldest person Emma Morano dies aged 117.

According to the US-based Gerontology Research Group (GRG), Morano ceded the crown of the world's oldest human being to Jamaican Violet Brown, who was born on March 10, 1900.

10. Sai Praneeth has won Men's singles at Singapore Open Badminton.

He achieved tis by beating his compatriot Kidambi Srikanth. Returning in the match after losing first game 17-21 Praneeth won last two games 21-17, 21-12.
