1. 1st ‘India Indonesia Energy Forum’, held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Energy Forum was preceded by 2nd Joint Working Group (JWG) on Oil and Gas, 4th Joint Working Group on Coal and 1st Joint Working Group on New and Renewable Energy. The reports of three Joint Working Groups were presented to two Ministers during the Energy Forum.

2. 'International Mother Earth Day' observed across the world today.

International Mother Earth Day provides an opportunity to raise public awareness around the world to the challenges regarding the well-being of the planet and all the life it supports. The theme for 2017 is "Environmental & Climate Literacy".

3. China successfully launched its first cargo spacecraft 'Tianzhou 1'.

It is programmed to conduct scientific experiments after reaching the now-crewless Tiangong 2, China's second space station. China aims to build up the permanent space station by 2022.

4. 'Brahmos' ,supersonic cruise missile successfully test fired by Indian Navy .

BrahMos Missile has been jointly developed by India and Russia and its anti-ship variant has already been inducted into the Navy. A majority of the frontline ships of Indian Navy (the Kolkata, Ranvir and Teg classes of ships) are capable of firing this missile

5. RBI signed MoU with Bank of Guyana on “Supervisory Cooperation and Exchange of Supervisory Information”.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Gobind N. Ganga, Governor of Bank of Guyana and Dr. Urjit R. Patel, Governor of Reserve Bank of India. The Reserve Bank has entered into MoU, Letter for Supervisory Co-operation and Statement of Co-operation with supervisors of a few countries to promote greater co-operation and share supervisory information.

6. Prestigious Krishi Karman Award 2015-16 won by Madhya Pradesh for 5th consecutive year.

MP wheat production in 2015-16 stood at 184.10 lakh tons as against 171.03 lakh tons in 2014-15(rise of 7.64 %). Wheat productivity grew to 3,115 kilograms per hectare in the state (last year 2,850 kgs per hectare).

7. India, South Korea sign MoU for Defence Industry between their shipbuilding yards.

The Indian side was represented by Secretary of Defence Production A K Gupta and South Korea was represented by his counterpart Chang Miyung Jin, in New Delhi. India has nominated Hindustan Shipyard at Vishakhapatnam whereas South Korea is yet to nominate its shipyard.

8. 3rd edition of International Conference and Exhibition on Steel Industry 'India Steel 2017' held at Mumbai.

It was inaugurated by Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh. First of its Kind exhibition-cum-conference was organized by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCO) along with Union Ministry of Steel. Currently, India is the Third largest producer of crude steel in the world.

9. Sri Lanka will host the 14th Edition of United Nations International Day of Vesak 2017.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest for UN Vesak Day. Narendra Modi will inaugurate UN Vesak Day in Colombo on May 12, 2017. Vesak Day is regarded by all Buddhist traditions as the anniversary of the birth of the Buddha. The theme of this edition is ‘Buddhist teachings for social justice and sustainable world peace’.

10. Golfers Aditi Ashok, S.S.P Chawrasia and Ali Sher has won the second edition of the GIA Awards 2017.

Aditi finished second in the Ladies European Tour (LET) order of merit in 2016. SSP Chawrasia has won the Men's Player of the Year (2016). Indian professional Golfer Ali Sher has won an Arjuna Award in 1991 and then went on to win the Indian Open again in 1993.
