1. World Malaria Day observed globally on 25 April.

It is organized by World Health Organization (WHO). It is an occasion to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment for malaria prevention and control. This year’s global theme for World Malaria Day is 'End Malaria for Good'.

2. 'K. Viswanath' wins Dadasaheb Phalke award 2016

Renowned filmmaker and actor ‘Kasinadhuni Viswanath’ (87-year) has won the 'Dadasaheb Phalke award' for the year 2016 for his outstanding contribution to the film industry. He will be the 48th recipient of the award. The award consists of a golden lotus, a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakh and a shawl.

3. Padmini Pagadala, Became CEO of the Flipkart For A Day .

It has nothing to do with the stiff competition Flipkart is facing from Amazon. As part of its 10th anniversary celebration "Big10," Flipkart held a competition where its employees could take part and become the CEO of the company for one day.

4. India becomes world's fifth largest military spender.

China and Russia at second and third places respectively.ndia's military expenditure grew around 8.5 percent in 2016, making it the world's fifth largest spender at $55.9 billion, figures released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

5. Aamir Khan was honoured with the 75th Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Award for ‘Dangal’.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat presented the Vishesh Puraskar, part of the Dinanath Mangeshkar Awards given to eminent personalties in various fields, to the 52-year-old actor whose wrestling saga was one of the biggest hits of 2016.

6. Prafulla Samantara of Odisha selected for Goldman Environmental Prize 2017 from Asia region.

The prize is for championing the cause of State’s Dongria Kondh tribals and safeguarding their land and culture. The prize was announced in San Francisco, USA. Samantara is the sixth Indian to win the prize, had led a historic legal battle that protected the Niyamgiri Hills in Odisha

7. first Nepal-China joint military exercise concluded at Kathmandu.

The first Nepal-China joint military exercise 'Sagarmatha Friendship-2017’ concluded at Kathmandu. On the last day of exercise participants from Nepal and China demonstrated Hostage Rescue, Bus Break In, Sniper Firing and House Clearing Drill.

8. India’s first and longest ropeway to connect Mumbai with the famous Elephanta Island.

Elephanta Island in the Arabian Sea is planned to be constructed by the Mumbai Port Trust, according to the official report. The 8-km ropeway will begin from Sewri in Mumbai’s east coast and end at Raigad district’s Elephanta Island, globally renowned for Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site

9. Younis Khan becomes first Pakistani to reach 10,000 runs.

Now, He became the oldest and sixth fastest batsmen to reach 10,000 runs milestone with respect to innings played. Khan is the first and only Test cricketer to score a century in all 11 countries that have hosted Test Matches

10. Indian shot putter Manpreet Kaur has won a gold in Asian Grand Prix Athletics.

Asian Grand Prix Athletics was held in Jinhua, China and she participated in it for the first time in her life.
