1.‘Smt. Malvika Sinha’ appointed as new Executive Director of RBI .

She will look after Foreign Exchange Department, Department of Government and Bank Accounts and Internal Debt Management Department. Earlier, B. P. Kanungo was Executive Director of the Reserve Bank before being elevated to the post of Deputy Governor. Sinha joined Reserve Bank in 1982 and as a career central banker served in the areas of regulation and supervision, foreign exchange and Government and Bank Accounts in the Bank.

2. International Day of Sport for Development and Peace observed today.

On the occasion of the 2017 International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP), the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) launches the digital campaign #WePlayTogether to encourage organizations and individuals.

3. Aditya Birla Idea Payments Bank Ltd becomes 7th entity to receive a final licence from RBI .

Except Vodafone M-Pesa Ltd, all payment bank licence holders have received the final approval. Among payment bank licence holders, two entities namely Airtel Payments Bank and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) have started operations

4.India-UAE cultural celebrations festival launched at Abu Dhabi

It has launched with a tribute video featuring the Mahatma Gandhi and late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The video took the audience through a journey of shared values, pluralism, and multiculturalism between the two nations.

5.According to WTTC ,India’s travel and tourism sector ranks 7th in world’s largest tourism.

ccording to a new report of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), 2016 ,The USA topped the list followed by China and Germany at the second and third position, respectively

6. Raman Roy appointed chairman of Nasscom for 2017-2018.

Rishad Premji (Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), Wipro Limited) has been appointed Vice Chairman. Raman Roy has replaced Mr. CP Gurnani.

7. RBI first Bi-monthly Policy 2017-18 announced

Policy rates :
Repo Rate : 6.25% Reverse Repo Rate : 6.00% Marginal Standing Facility Rate : 6.50% Bank Rate : 6.50%
Reserve ratios :
CRR : 4% SLR : 20.50%

8. Japan officially recognizes Bitcoin as currency

The recognition comes after implementation of a new law amending Banking Act in Japan for legalizing these currencies. This will help in integration of digital currency into legal banking system through regulatory scrutiny.

9. ADB lends $175 million loan to Power Grid Corporation

The project will improve the capacity and efficiency of interstate transmission networks, particularly in transmitting the electricity generated from the new solar parks to the national grid.

10.'Virat Kohli' named Wisden's Leading Cricketer in the World for 2016

Kohli becomes the third Indian to be bestowed with the honor, with Virender Sehwag (2008 and 2009) and Sachin Tendulkar (2010).
