1.Telangana became first state in india to introducde logo for hearing impaired drivers.

The state’s transport department has finalized the logo designed by Hyderabad-based graphic designer Manikanta Annapragada, who incidentally is the first person to obtain a driving license in the ‘hearing impaired’ category.

2. Amitabh Bachchan appointed WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Hepatitis.

This is the first formal association between WHO and Amitabh Bachchan, who served as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Polio in India.

3. Election Commission of India Launches National Contact Centre.

The Election Commission of India has launched National Contact Centre with a toll-free number (1800111950). Now, any citizen from any part of the country call on the toll-free number and get their query or complaint addressed at any time of the day in Hindi or English. The Centre is operated on a National Grievance Redressal System Software.

4. Gujarat govt. launches implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojna.

It will provide benefits of housing to more than 2 lakh homeless families in the rural areas. In the first phase, it will provide homes to 14,000 beneficiaries in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, Aravalli and Kheda districts. The rural homeless people can build their own house with 20 percent subsidy to be directly deposited in their bank account.

5. V K Saraswat has been appointed as the Chancellor of JNU for a term of 5 years.

Former Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) director and scientist V K Saraswat has been appointed the Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru University. He succeeds former ISRO chairman K Kasturirangan. Currently, Mr. Saraswat is serving as the Member of NITI Aayog.

6. India test fired a surface-to-air missile ‘Spyder’ from a test range at Chandipur in Odisha.

It is as part of missile launch practice of a series of tests of the short-range quick reaction. Spyder is an acquired missile system from Israel which is a short-range quick reaction surface-to-air missile to neutralize enemy targets up to a distance of 15 km and at heights between 20-and-9,000 meters.

7. Health Minister J P Nadda launches new Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine for pneumonia.

In Himachal Pradesh, the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda today launched new Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine, PCV, for Pneumonia at Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College Hospital in Mandi district. The vaccine has been launched under Government of India’s Universal Immunization Programme, UIP. There are over 90 different types of pneumococcal bacteria which cause a range of problems including ear infections and serious chest infections pneumonia.

8. Arunachal Pradesh Govt launched Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana for local entrepreneurs.

Arunachal Pradesh Government has launched Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana for local entrepreneurs to boost tourism and promote Agri and allied sectors. Under the scheme, entrepreneurs are offered bank loan ranging from 10 lakh to one crore rupees with 30 per cent subsidy. Addressing a function at Itanagar today, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said it will be a big help for the unemployed youths for their self-employment. He stressed on ‘hospitality’ as key to boost tourism industry in Arunachal as the state is witnessing rise in tourist arrivals every year.

9. VVS Laxman awarded honorary life membership by MCC.

VVS Laxman awarded with an honorary life membership by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). The elegant Hyderabad batsman becomes the fifth Indian to receive the honour after fellow stalwarts, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and Zaheer Khan.

10. Bajrang wins first gold medal for India in the Asian Wrestling Championship.

He defeated South Korea’s Seunghui Lee 6-2 in the men’s 65kg freestyle category. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Punia for winning the Gold medal and said the country was proud of his exemplary accomplishment. Wrestler Sarita settled for a silver medal. She lost 0-6 to Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan in the final of women's 58kg category. Indian women wrestlers have registered their best ever performance in the Asian Championship in this edition with six medals, including four silver medals.
