1. Kerala secured first rank in public affairs index (PAI) of governance in States.

Two South Indian States - Kerala and Tamil Nadu - secured first and second rankings for the second year in a row while poll-bound Gujarat gained two positions rising from five in 2016 to three in 2017 and Bihar stayed at the bottom in public affairs index (PAI) in governance in States

2. Eurovision-2017 Song Contest won for the first time by Portugal.

It has won it with a melancholy ballad performed by a singer who suffers from a serious heart condition. The fado-tinged song "Amar Pelos Dois" was performed by Salvador Sobral (27-year), who is awaiting a heart transplant. The ceremony was in the capital of ex-Soviet Ukraine Kiev watched by some 200 million TV viewers.

3. Telangana hosted the first outreach program of the Ministry of External Affairs ‘Videsh Sampark’

‘Videsh Sampark’ to engage the State governments in creating awareness about various programmes of the Ministry. It was inaugurated by the Minister of State for External Affairs, Gen. V.K. Singh. The conference will create awareness on the schemes regard to consular and passport services, engagement with overseas Indians, welfare and protection of overseas Indians.

4.ISKCON's Govardhan Eco Village wins Smart Village Award.

Govardhan Eco Village, set up by the ISKCON in adjoining Thane district, has won a Smart Village award for being a sustainable project in rural Maharashtra. The village at Wada taluka is located 108km north of Mumbai at the foothills of the Sahyadri mountains. The award, "Smart Village," has been instituted by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO).

5.Rajnath Singh inaugurates 2nd meeting of NPDRR in New Delhi.

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the second meeting of National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR) in New Delhi. The meeting will be attended by over 1000 distinguished guests including Union Ministers, State Ministers, Parliamentarians, Heads of Local Self-Government, Heads of specialized disaster management agencies and civil society organizations.

6. India-UK agree on MoU in urban transport sector.

Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari was on a three-day visit, finalised the bilateral cooperation arrangement between the Transport for London (TfL) and the India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to cover a wide range of transport mobility solutions and associated activities in urban environments.

7. New French President Emmanuel Macron named centre-right lawmaker Edouard Philippe as Prime Minister .

Philippe, a little known 46-year old MP and Mayor of the northern port of Le Havre, comes from the moderate wing of the rightwing Republicans party and is seen as a pragmatist. His appointment was seen as a strategic move by 39-year old Macron, who is trying to woo modernisers of all stripes to his new centrist party, the Republique en Marche.

8. The export of Coir and Coir products from the country has touched an all time high of 2282 crore.

This was stated by Union Minister for Micro Small and Micro Medium Enterprises Giriraj Singh in Kochi yesterday. He said, this represents an increase by 27 per cent over value and 20 per cent over quantity comparing to the previous year.

9. Indian squash player Ramit Tandon has won his maiden professional title.

Tandon had come into this event as a qualifier beat third seed Kumar 11-3, 11-2, 11-3 in the final.

10. Rafael Nadal’ has won the 5th Madrid Open title of Tennis.

Madrid Open title of Tennis held at Madrid, Spain. He defeated Dominic Thiem (Austria) in straight sets 7-6(8), 6-4.
