1. International Labour Day observed on 1st May.

It takes place every year on 1st May which also matches with the Celtic spring festival. The day marks the victory of workers' movement for eight hours of work. It also aims to pay tribute to workers sacrifices in achieving economic and social rights all over the world.

2. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has inaugurated the State’s first automatic weather station at Dongargaon.

With the installation of this station information from the stations would help farmers plan and manage the sowing process better.

3. PM releases commemorative Stamp on 1000th Birth Anniversary of Ramanujacharya.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released a commemorative Stamp on 1000th Birth Anniversary of sage and Philosopher Ramanujacharya in New Delhi. Ramanujacharya saw the manifestation of God in human beings and human beings in God. He also saw all devotees of God as equal.

4. India, Turkey agree to work together on counter-terrorism.

India and Turkey today agreed to work together to strengthen the cooperation to effectively counter menace of terrorism at bi-lateral as well as multi-lateral levels. In a joint press statement with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in New Delhi after delegation level talks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, world today faces new threats and challenges from terrorism therefore there can be no justification whatsoever for it.

5. Aymanam ward in the Kerala district on became India’s first digitalised panchayat ward.

Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar inaugurated the website of the first digitalised panchayat ward number 15 of Aymanam gram panchayat.

6. SBI reduces various term deposit rates by up to 50 bps.

SBI will offer a rate of 6.25 per cent as compared to 6.75 per cent earlier, the bank said. For the similar maturity, the deposit rates for senior citizen have been cut to 6.75 per cent from 7.25 per cent.For deposits maturing between three years and 10 years, the rates have been lowered by 25 basis points to 6.50 per cent. The lender will be offering the new rates for fresh deposits and renewals and are applicable from April 29, 2017. The short term deposits,that is, for deposits maturing between seven days to less than two years, the rates have been left unchanged.

7. The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2017 (RERA) has come into force on 1st may.

It aims to protect the interests of homebuyers across the country and bring transparency. The real estate developers will not be allowed to take advances and booking amounts from customers in yet to be launched projects till they are registered with RERA.

8. Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao inaugurates "Kalam Library" in Mumbai.

It is for the underprivileged children and youth residing in slums. Kalam Library was inaugurated at Chembur in the suburbs and Colaba in South Mumbai on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. The governor also launched the Dreamathon Campaign in the city by welcoming the 'Missile of Dreams' van to Maharashtra.

9. Aizawl FC has won its maiden I-League title against Shillong Lajong .

Aizawl ended the league on 37 points and became the first club from the Northeast to bag the title. Mohun Bagan defeated Chennai City FC 2-1 and finished second in the League with 36 points.

10. Joshna Chinappa become the first Indian to clinch the Asian Squash title.

She won it with a thrilling win over compatriot Dipika Pallikal Karthik in the women's final. The event was organized in Chennai.
