1. Turbo Megha Airways has become the first private airline to get a licence to fly under UDAN. the government scheme for subsidized regional flights. The Hyderabad-based airline which flies as TruJet stated that it will launch flights on Hyderabad-Cuddapah, Hyderabad-Nanded and Nanded-Mumbai routes. The five airlines awarded the rights to fly UDAN flights so far are Air India, SpiceJet, Turbo Megha, Air Odisha and G.R. Gopinath led Deccan Air. |
2. The Andhra Pradesh government will launch a water grid project. The water grid project on a fast track with an estimated cost of 8,000 crore to provide safe drinking water in areas vulnerable to kidney disorders like Srikakulam and Prakasam districts on a pilot basis. The project aims to install water plants and supply safe water to the needy. People facing drinking water problem in villages may complain to the call centre by dialling the toll-free number (1800 425 1899). The call centre will solve the drinking water scarcity immediately. |
3.BSNL inked a clutch of agreements with Facebook, MobiKwik and Disney India . Facebook, through the Express Wi-Fi service, offers internet facility via public hotspots to users in rural parts of the country, in partnership with telecom operators. Under another MoU, the BSNL company will work with digital payments firm Mobikwik to co-create a BSNL mobile wallet to facilitate payment for its products and services. The third MoU of BSNL with Disney India will provide premium online gaming services to mobile customers of the telecom operator. |
4. E-auction of sand mines earns Punjab govt highest ever bids worth Rs. 1026 crore. A two-day e-auction of sand mines in Punjab resulted with total bids worth a whopping 1,026 crore rupees secured for 89 mines. This is highest ever earnings for the state government from the sand mining business. |
5. Manmohan Singh presented the 2014 Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace to the ISRO. The award was announced by a jury headed by Vice President Hamid Ansari in 2014, consists of a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1 crore. The Prize was awarded to ISRO in recognition of its path-breaking achievements culminating in the Mars orbiter mission and its significant contributions in strengthening international cooperation in peaceful use of outer space. |
6. Italy makes childhood vaccinations compulsory. Italy's government has declared a new law making a series of childhood vaccinations a condition of school inscription in a move triggered by a spike in measles cases. According to Prime Minister of Italy Paolo Gentiloni ,the move will make compulsory (until now simply recommended) certain vaccinations. |
7. 2017- Scheme for Harnessing and Allocating Koyala (Coal) Transparently in India (SHAKTI ) approved by Cabinet. The approved framework ensures that all projects with linkages are supplied coal as per their entitlement. This will ensure the rights of coal supplies for FSA holders and signing of FSA with LoA holders. |

Japan's SoftBank Invests Rs 9,000 Crore in Paytm. he Japanese internet and telecom conglomerate will now own about a fifth of the Noida-based company estimated to be worth $8 billion, making it the country’s second most valuable startup. This is the largest fund infusion by a single investor in an Indian start-up and also Softbank's largest investment in a single company in India. |
9. India has imposed anti-dumping duty on a Chinese chemical and aluminium foil to protect domestic industry from cheap imports. While an anti-dumping duty of up to 1.63 US Dollar per kg was imposed on aluminium foil, up to 8.71 US Dollar per kg duty was slapped on imports of amoxicillin, used in pharmaceuticals. The duty on both the products would be effective for a period of five years, the finance ministry has said in separate notifications. |
10. The Indian men's compound archery team won the gold medal at the season's first World Cup in Shanghai. The team comprising Abhishek Verma, Chinna Raju Srither and Amanjeet Singh prevailed 226-221 against the Colombians. Indians grabbed a slender lead in the opening set by clinching it 58-57 and built on it in the next three to emerge triumphant. |
