In the Iranian Presidential Elections, Hassan Rouhani defeated his Conservative opponent Ebrahim Raisi by winning 57% of the total seats. The elections were labeled as the “most competitive ever”. |

| 8. Jhumpa Lahiri wins Malamud Award for short-story excellence. Jhumpa Lahiri have convinced prize judges that she's a worthy recipient of the PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story. Lahiri will receive $5,000 and will read at a December ceremony in Washington, D.C. The award selection committee on Wednesday praised her for ``deep introspection'' and ``meticulous attention'' to language. It cited her books `Unaccustomed Earth' and `The Interpreter of Maladies', a debut book of stories for which she won the Pulitzer Prize. |
| 9.Madhya Pradesh govt announces indefinite ban on sand mining in Narmada river. the state government has banned sand excavation in the Narmada river. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made an announcement in this regard in a press conference in Bhopal. He said that a committee has been formed to suggest scientific ways of mining in the rivers. The committee will explore ways for sand excavation without harming rivers. |
| 10. Bengaluru FC has won the 38th Federation Cup Football tournament by defeating Mohun Bagan. CK Vineeth, scored twice for Bengaluru in extra time helping them to win the tournament. Now, Bengaluru also sealed a berth for next year’s Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup. |
