The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) in the US in the environmental engineering category for his project on bio degradation of pesticides.Prashant Ranganathan, a 12th grader from Jamshedpur.The name of his project was ‘Biodegradation of Chlorpyrifos using native bacteria’ which was based on the theme that farmers should not use pesticides. |
3. Hassan Rouhani wins Presidential Re-election in Iran . This is his second term as Iran's President. He was first elected as Iran's President in 2013. In the Iranian Presidential Elections, Hassan Rouhani defeated his Conservative opponent Ebrahim Raisi by winning 57% of the total seats. The elections were labeled as the “most competitive ever”. |
4.Saurabh Agrawal, appointed as Tata Group Chief Financial Officer. He will join the company from July 2017. 8. Jhumpa Lahiri wins Malamud Award for short-story excellence. Jhumpa Lahiri have convinced prize judges that she's a worthy recipient of the PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story. Lahiri will receive $5,000 and will read at a December ceremony in Washington, D.C. The award selection committee on Wednesday praised her for ``deep introspection'' and ``meticulous attention'' to language. It cited her books `Unaccustomed Earth' and `The Interpreter of Maladies', a debut book of stories for which she won the Pulitzer Prize. |
9.Madhya Pradesh govt announces indefinite ban on sand mining in Narmada river. the state government has banned sand excavation in the Narmada river. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made an announcement in this regard in a press conference in Bhopal. He said that a committee has been formed to suggest scientific ways of mining in the rivers. The committee will explore ways for sand excavation without harming rivers. |
10. Bengaluru FC has won the 38th Federation Cup Football tournament by defeating Mohun Bagan. CK Vineeth, scored twice for Bengaluru in extra time helping them to win the tournament. Now, Bengaluru also sealed a berth for next year’s Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup. |
