3. Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal resigned after a brief stint of nine months. He was elected as the 39th prime minister of Nepal after forging alliance with the Nepali Congress on August 3, 2016. Mr Kamal, the Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre), had reached an understanding with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba that he would step down as Prime Minister and hand over the leadership to him after nine months. |
4. Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) between Germany and India for cooperation of alternative medicine. The signing of the joint declaration will enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of traditional and alternative medicine. An official release said, the initiation of collaborative research, training and scientific capacity building in the field of alternative medicine between the two countries will contribute, enhanced employment opportunities in the AYUSH sector. The Cabinet also approved the signing of a MoU between Spain and India on cooperation in the field of Organ Transplant Services. |

Bank of Baroda (BOB) and IFFCO rolled out their first set of co-branded debit cards for farmers . co-branded debit cards for farmers as part of a novel initiative to push digitalisation and cashless economy. The co-branded debit cards, with inbuilt overdraft of Rs. 2,500 in special savings bank account, could be used for purchase of various agri products at IFFCO sale counters. |
6. Ministry of Culture has launched “Swachh Bharat App” with a focus to involve people actively in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. In this App the concept of Physical web is implemented. When a person is in a monument or Museum the App will deliver him the message about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan asking to report the garbage lying around. All that is needed is to enable the Bluetooth in mobile device. |
7. Over 28 crore bank accounts have been opened under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana . In this scheme nearly 64 thousand crore rupees deposited across the country. The Scheme was launched in August, 2014 with the objective of covering all households with at least one bank account. Finance Ministry said, the average deposit per account has more than doubled from one thousand 64 rupees in March 2015 to two thousand 235 rupees in March 2017. The Ministry also said, over 22 crore RuPay cards have been issued under the scheme. |

9. ‘good morning’ squads will be formed by Maharastra govt to monitor and prevent open defecation in villages and districts. These squads will comprise representatives of local bodies, self-help groups, NGOs, students and social workers working in the area of sanitation and cleanliness. A government resolution issued and stated that these squads have been asked to keep an eye on the areas where this practice is prevalent and to ensure that locals have access to toilets. |
10. Ravichandran Ashwin’ has won the International Cricketer of the Year award at the CEAT awards 2017. In the CEAT Cricket Rating (CCR) International awards 2017 , The award was presented to Ashwin by Sunil Gavaskar (former India skipper) and Harsh Goenka (Chairman of RPG Enterprises) at a function held at the Cricket Club of India. Ashwin has taken 99 wickets in the past 12 months. |
