1. The world's First robot police officer revealed by Dubai Police. It has given the task of patrolling the city's malls and tourist attractions. The robot (a customised Reem model from Pal Robotics) was unveiled at the Gulf Information and Security Expo and Conference. The people will be able to use it to report crimes, pay fines and get information by tapping a touchscreen on its chest. |
2. HDFC Ltd is the only Indian company to be named among the top 10 consumer financial services companies in the world. With profits of $1.6 billion and sales of $8.1 billion HDFC was ranked seventh on the Forbes Global List 2017 in the consumer financial services sector .American Express topped the list, followed by Capital One Financial and Visa in the second and third place, respectively. The other consumer finance services companies that made it into the list include Orix at the fourth place, Synchrony Financial (5th), Discover Financial Services (6th), Mastercard (8th), PayPal (9th) and CIT group (10th). |
3. RBI allows co-operative banks to issue mobile wallets upto a limit of Rs 10,000. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has allowed co-operative banks, who are permitted to install ATMs and issue debit cards, to also issue prepaid payment instruments PPIs like mobile wallets. Further, the RBI has also mandated that the bank should have internal and audit inspection processes both for its branches as well as the head office. |

6. BSNL started satellite phone service through INMARSAT. It will be initially offered to government agencies and later opened for others citizen in phased manner. The service will cover areas where no networks are present and be provided by INMARSAT which has 14 satellites. Agencies handling disasters, state police, railways, Border Security Force and other government agencies will be given the phones in the first phase, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha has Stated during the launching of service. |

8. Lenin Moreno has elceted Ecuador’s President in Presidential Elections 2017. Moreno became the first disabled individual to take office as President of Ecuador. Engineer Jorge Glas will continue to serve as the Vice President of Ecuador. Moreno (Ecuador's Socialist Party) won 51.16% of the votes and Guillermo Lasso (Conservative) fetched 48.8% of the ballots. |
9. ITC and EDII bags Porter Prize 2017 for their acumen in competitive strategies. ITC has won the award for Excellence in Corporate Governance and Integration and for its contribution in ‘Creating Shared Value’. EDII is an autonomous body and not-for-profit institution is sponsored by apex financial institutions, namely the IDBI Bank Ltd, IFCI Ltd, ICICI Ltd, and State Bank of India (SBI). |
