1. Anurag Tripathy appointed as Secretary of CBSE.

Anurag Tripathy (1998 batch-IRPS officer) has been appointed as the Secretary of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for a period of five years.

2. PM Modi inaugurated India's longest Dhola-Sadia Bridge in Assam.

Three lane Dhola-Sadiya Bridge is 9.15 km long, built over the river Lohit, which is a tributary of the Brahmaputra. The bridge will reduce the distance from Rupai on NH- 37 in Assam to Meka-Roing on NH-52 in Arunachal Pradesh by 165 KM. The travel time between the two places will come down from the current six hours to just one hour. Dhola-Sadiya Bridge will be named after noted singer and ‘Asom Ratna’ Bhupen Hazarika.

3. 'Sachin: A Billion Dreams' now tax-free in Maharashtra along with Odisha.

The decision to waive off entertainment tax has been taken by the state government to honour the contribution of Tendulkar in the world of sports and to ensure that the film reaches maximum number of people in theatres. The docu-drama, written and directed by British filmmaker James Erskine.

4. State Bank of India suspends car loans for Uber and Ola.

The bank has seized close to 300 cars for payment defaults, which reflect lower earnings by drivers amid a surge in cab numbers and a decline in incentives paid out by the aggregators. SBI, which has total exposure of `120 crore toward cabs, had seen considerable stress in these accounts.

5. India and Mauritius discussed bilateral relations and security cooperation.

It includes maritime security and counter terrorism. Visiting Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth today met Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. Both the leaders agreed to take the relationships between the two countries to greater heights.

6. Venkaiah Naidu announces 24-7 satellite channel of DD for Chhattisgarh.

Mr. Naidu, who is also the Minister for urban development, housing and poverty alleviation, was addressing a press conference after conducting review meetings of the working of his ministries' units in Chhattisgarh, accompanied by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh. Mr Naidu told, till the launch of 24/7 channel, DD Madhya Pradesh will carry programmes and news from Chhattisgarh in Satellite mode.

7. Leaders of G7 nations began summit in Italy.

The leaders will discuss political issues as well as foreign policy and security during a luncheon and a work session to follow. They are expected to discuss how to counter terrorism and violent extremism, North Korea's nuclear and missile programs, as well as Syria and Ukraine. The meeting comes days after several children were among 22 people killed in a concert bomb attack in Manchester, northwest England. British Prime Minister Theresa May is to lead a discussion on terrorism and issue a call for G7 countries to put more pressure on internet companies to ensure extremist content is quickly taken off line and notified to authorities.

8. Union Government selected 5 bankers selected for IOC to manage its 3% stake sale.

It could fetch around Rs. 6000 crore to the exchequer. The five bankers are Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Deutsche Equities, SBI Capital Markets and ICICI Securities. The government has set a target of raising 46,500 crore rupees through minority stake sale and 15,000 crore rupees from strategic disinvestment.

9. Rajan Anandan has appointed new chairman of Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI)

He will take over from FreeCharge’s co-founder and chief executive officer Kunal Shah. He is the Google’s vice-president for South East Asia and India. The tenure of the new Council is for two years.

10. ICC Cricket Committee recommends DRS for T20 Internationals.

The ICC Cricket Committee chaired by India's head coach Anil Kumble has made a host of recommendations at its annual meeting in London concerning future international cricket. One of the notable recommendations is the use of DRS for all T20 Internationals. Another important recommendation is to give power to on-field umpires to send-off players in response to the most serious incidents of player's misconduct, such as violence on the field. The committee expressed unanimous support for the implementation of a Test cricket competition. It also reiterated its full support for cricket being involved in the Olympic Games.
