Pawan Munjal-led Hero MotoCorp was conferred the ‘Indian MNC of the Year’ award by the All India Management Association (AIMA) .The award comes as the two-wheeler maker is set to enter the potentially lucrative markets of Brazil, Latin America’s largest two-wheeler market with annual sales in excess of two million units, and Mexico, which has a market size of more than half a million units per year. |
8. Janalakshmi gets final small finance bank licence. Janalakshmi Financial Services, India's largest microfinance company in terms of loan outstanding, has received the final approval from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to set up small finance bank, ending all apprehensions about its transition plan. Janalakshmi said it would commence operations in the second quarter of the current fiscal. It plans to set up 300 branches during the year covering the major locations in India. |

10. Jehan Daruvala becomes 1st Indian to take pole in FIA F3 European Championship. The 18-year-old product of Force India Academy, became the first Indian to take pole in the F3 European series, securing the top spot on the starting grid for Race 1 of the second round of the championship in Monza, Italy. However, he was unable to translate that into a race victory, and finished the hard-fought race in second place, behind his Carlin Racing teammate Lando Norris of the UK. |
