1. World Laughter Day observed on 7th May.

World Laughter Day is a free event that has been celebrated in Los Angeles on the first Sunday of May since 2005 at the initiative of Sebastien Gendry, creator of the Laughter Wellness method. It was first started in India in 1998 and now takes place in all the major capitals of the world and more cities. Its aim is to promote intentional laughter and its many healing benefits, and raise awareness about the many thousands of community laughter clubs around the world.

2. India's 1st bio refinery plant inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari in Pune .

the country's first bio refinery plant which produces ethanol from variety of biomass. The project is situated at Rahu in Pune district. the plant can produce one million litre of ethanol per annum by processing a variety of agro-residue like rice and wheat straw, cotton stalk, cane trash, corn cobs with superior product yields.

3. India will organise a cultural festival in Egypt to mark the 156th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.

The Tagore festival is being organised by the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture, the cultural wing of the Indian Embassy in Cairo, from tomorrow. It will feature a dance show, film screening, a play and painting competition. The festival will conclude on May 12 with 'Rituranga -Play of Seasons' which will be performed by members of the Indian community at the Hanager Theatre, Opera House Complex.

4. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flags off Naharlagun-Guwahati Shatabdi Express.

The express train will travel a distance of 332 KM in just 6 hour time with only 3 stoppages in between. It will have latest LHB Coaches to provide extra comfort in the train.

5. Emmanuel Macron elected as President of France.

hirty-nine-year old former investment banker, who has never held elected office, becomes the youngest President and occupant of the Élysée Palace. Mr Macron will also becomes the first President from outside the two traditional main parties since the modern republic's foundation in 1958.

6. Odisha will introduce boat ambulance service in four districts for health service.

The boat ambulance service will be available in Koraput, Malkangiri, Kendrapara and Kalahandi districts where people face problems in availing 108 ambulance service due to intervening large water bodies in the form of rivers and dams disrupting road communication. Health and Family Welfare secretary PK Meherda said the state government has sanctioned six boat ambulances for these areas which will be part of the 108 ambulance service.

7. The Chinese military has developed a smartphone surveillance software that automatically alerts authorities if soldiers leak sensitive information.

the software aims to better enforce management of mobile phone use among soldiers, as well as address fears of confidential information leaks. Restrictions on smartphones have been a source of complaints among Chinese soldiers in the past. The software aims to create a "safe space for soldiers to surf the Internet.

8. The Hinduja brothers have topped the 2017 times rich list of 1,000 people in the UK.

They made this with an estimated fortune of £16.2 billion, a massive £3.2 billion hike in their fortunes over the previous year as Britain's wealthy "kept calm and carried on making billions" amidst the uncertainty over Brexit. Besides brothers Srichand and Gopichand Hinduja, who invest in property, healthcare and oil and gas, there are over 40 Indian-origin super-rich in this year's list which also includes a record number of British billionaires — 134 — with 14 new ones emerging over the last year.

9. Cuba hosts first transgender Mass by three transgender pastors.

Rainbow flags decorated the chapel, while the pastors, who had flown in from Brazil, Canada and the United States, wore stoles in the trans hues of light blue, pink and white and the congregation swayed to Caribbean beats.

10. India, Russia to ink deal on 5th generation fighter design.

After years of delay, India and Russia are likely to soon ink a "milestone" pact to finalise the detailed design for the fifth-generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) and move ahead with the multi-billion dollar co-development project. Government sources said almost all the ground work has been completed to finalise the deal for design of the jet as well as some other critical issues.
