1. Govt launches video conferencing aided legal service 'Tele Law' for rural areas people.

Launching the service IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, the legal aid to poor through Tele-Law will fulfill the government's commitment to ensure access to justice and empowerment of the poor. Under the scheme, the Tele-Law portal will be available across the Common Service Centre (CSC) network connecting the citizens to legal service providers. The portal will connect law school clinics, District Legal Service Authorities, voluntary service providers and Non-Government Organisations working on legal through the CSCs.

2. Kolkata to get India's first underwater Metro.

Kolkata is set to get an underwater Metro, which will use a transportation tunnel built under the Hooghly. This will be India's first underwater transportation tunnel. Kolkata will soon have an underwater Metro which will pass through tunnels several feet under the Hooghly. The first underwater transportation tunnel of India is ready with the second one nearing completion. The Kolkata Metro transportation tunnel is unique to India because never before in the history of the country has a tunnel been made under a flowing river. The tunnel has been constructed 30 metres below riverbed, just a few metres away from the famous Howrah Bridge, built in the last century to connect Howrah and Kolkata.

3. Soumitra Chatterjee conferred with the France's highest civilian honour - the coveted Legion of Honour.

The award will be presented to the Kolkata-based actor by the Ambassador of France to India Alexandre Ziegler. The award comes with the octogenarian Bengali screen legend exactly 30 years after Satyajit Ray got the honour by the then French President Francois Mitterrand in 1987.

4. China has launched a record breaking swarm of 119 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

The feat broke the previous record of a swarm of 67 drones, the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) said. The 119 drones performed catapult-assisted take-offs and formations in the sky. According to the CETC, "swarm intelligence" is regarded as the core of artificial intelligence of unmanned systems and the future of intelligent unmanned systems.

5. SATH programme has launched by NITI Aayog.

SATH will program provide ‘Sustainable Action for Transforming Human Capital’ with the State Governments. The vision of the program is to initiate transformation in the education and health sectors. The program addresses the need expressed by many states for technical support from NITI.

6. United Nations holds first-ever 'Ocean Conference'.

The United Nations held its first-ever Ocean Conference to renew member nations' commitment to combatting rising sea levels, pollution, and harmful fishing practices for the protection of world's waterways. The conference ended on Friday with the adoption by consensus of a '14-point Call for Action' to conserve and sustainably use oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

7. Maharashtra government agrees to waive farm loans.

The Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government today agreed to waive farm loans of small and marginal farmers worth Rs 30,000 crore. The government has also set up a panel for implementation of the scheme. As many as 1.07 crore farmers in the state with less than five acre land holding will be eligible for the waiver.

8. The GST council has revised the rates of 66 articles.

66 articles, which will now attract lower tax levels when the new taxation regime is rolled out on July 1.The changes made in the tax levels of several articles by the GST council include: GST on cashew nuts reduced from 12 per cent to 5 per cent GST on pickles, chutney, sauces, instant food mixes were charged at 18 per cent and are now reduced to 12 per cent GST on kajal slashed from 28 per cent to 18 per cent GST on insulin reduced from 12 per cent to 5 per cent GST on school bags reduced from 28 per cent to 18 per cent GST on children's colouring and drawing books revised from 12 per cent to nil GST on cutlery reduced from 18 per cent to 12 per cent GST on some tractor components will now attract 18 per cent compared to 28 per cent under previous arrangement GST on computer printers reduced from 28 per cent to 18 per cent GST rate of 28 per cent will be maintained for all cinema tickets above Rs 100 while for tickets below Rs 100, it will be reduced to 18 per cent

9. Amazon seeks patent for drone technology.

U.S. e-commerce giant Amazon has sought a patent in India for a technology dealing with propeller safety for automated aerial vehicles such as drones. The move comes in the backdrop of the firm committing to increase its investments to $5 billion in India which is one of its fastest growing markets. The technology is important as it helps revolutionise the way deliveries are made by an e-commerce website, especially of small packages

10. Nadal has become the first player to win the same Grand Slam title for 10 times.

Spain's Rafael Nadal has lifted his 10th French Open Men's Singles Title. In a one-sided final in Paris today, he completely overwhelmed Swiss star Stan Wawrinka in 6-2, 6-3, 6-1. The World's 4th ranked player has 15 Grand Slams to his credit. World No. 3 Wawrinka has three Grand Slam titles to his credit including a French Open crown.
