1. Mohammed Hamid Ansari has launched the welfare programe “Anuyatra” at Thiruvanthapuram.

With the objective of creating confidence and self esteem among children with disabilities, a group of children who are intellectually challenged were trained in magic skills through Academy of magical sciences, Thiruvananthapuram. . He was launching the welfare programe “Anuyatra” (means going together) with objective of transforming Kerala to a disabled friendly state in a function held at Thiruvanthapuram. Anuyatra aims at reducing the barriers in the path of a differently abled person and creating conducive environment for his/her holistic development.

2. World’s largest floating Solar Farm has launched in China.

The 40-MW power plant has 1,60,000 panels resting on a lake that emerged after the collapse of a coal mine in central Anhui province. It is part of Beijing’s effort to wean itself off a fossil fuel dependency that has made it the world’s top carbon emitter, with two-thirds of its electricity still fuelled by coal.

3. Legendary poet and essayist Haraprasad Das was conferred with Kalinga Literary Award.

It is for his work and contribution to literature at the fourth edition of Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF). The three-day literary festival was inaugurated by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This year the KLF introduced two new awards -- the Kalinga International Literary Award, which was received by Anand Neelakantan for his contribution towards literature, and the Kalinga Karubaki Award, which was given to Paramita Satpathy for her contribution to Odia poetry.

4. World's smallest & cheapest private jet launched at ₹12.6 cr by Cirrus Aircraft.

US-based aviation company Cirrus Aircraft has launched the world's smallest and most affordable private jet called 'Vision Jet' for ₹12.62 crore. The jet which had been in making for a decade has only one engine and can cruise at 555 kmph. It has a maximum operating altitude of 28,000 feet, and takes off from just 620 metres of runway.

5. Padma Bhushan awardee poet C Narayana Reddy passes away.

Poet and writer Dr C Narayana Reddy, who was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 1992, passed away in Hyderabad on Monday morning at the age of 86. Known for his contribution to Telugu literature, Reddy was awarded the Jnanpith Award in 1988. He wrote several books, including composition of poems like Karpoora Vasantha Rayalu and Nagarjuna Saagaramu.

6. Australia to build 1st terrorist jail to stop radicalisation.

Australia is planning to build its first prison solely for militants with extremist views to prevent radicalisation of other inmates. The move comes after a shooting and hostage situation in Melbourne that was claimed by the Islamic State. The jail is expected to house 54 inmates and will include soundproofing facilities, audio, and CCTV upgrades to improve intelligence gathering.

7. C S Karnan is the first High Court judge to retire while on the run.

He became a judge of the Madras high court in March 2009. Born on June 12, 1955, the judge is facing arrest and has been missing since May 9 when a seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court passed an unprecedented arrest order against a constitutional court judge. He became a judge of the Madras high court in March 2009. Though he had arrived in Chennai early on May 9 and was seen chatting with visitors and journalists at the state guest house till a couple of hours after the apex court's arrest order, he went underground soon after, without the knowledge of his personal security and protocol officials. 8.Jitu Rai-Heena Sidhu clinch gold medal in ISSF World Cup.

India's Jitu Rai and Heena Sidhu combined to clinch the gold medal in mixed team 10m air pistol event of the ISSF World Cup, beating Russia 7-6 in the final in Gabala, Azerbaijan today. France beat Iran by an identical score to win the bronze in the event. Earlier, on day four of the competitions at the rifle/pistol World Cup, both Jitu and Heena narrowly missed out on making the final of the individual men's and women's 10m air pistol event, finishing 12th and 9th in their respective qualification rounds. Only the top eight make it through to the final.

9. Jeje Lalpekhlua has won the AIFF Player of the Year award.

India and Mohun Bagan striker Jeje Lalpekhlua received the All India Football Federation's inaugural player of the year 2016 award. Sasmita Malik was adjudged the 2016 AIFF Women's player of the year.

10. Shashikant Kutwal has won the gold medal in the World Individual Chess Championship for differently-abled.

Hashikant Kutwal, a railway employee with Pune Division, has won the gold medal at the 17th World Individual Chess Championship for differently-abled, held in Slovakia from May 27 to June 6, 2017. In the World Championship, held by Physically Disabled Chess Association (PDCA), Kutwal won the gold medal after scoring 7.5 points from a possible 9.
