1.PM Modi inaugurated Kerala's first metro rail service at Kochi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kochi Metro today and took a ride in the Metro from Palarivattom station to Pathadippalam station. Kerala Governor P Sathasivam, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and E Sreedharan popularly known as Metro man also travelled with Mr Modi. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium premises, the Prime Minister said, Kochi Metro Rail Limited is a 50-50 Joint Venture of Centre and the Kerala government.

2. President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated 'Namma Metro' Phase I on the Green Line in Bengaluru.

The 42.2 km stretch connects people with faster Rail transport across the city and the project was completed at a cost of 13,500 crore rupees. Speaking after the inauguration, the President said, metro rail services is the way ahead to help fast transport in the growing cities in the country and 12 more cities are lined up for such services

3. Aadhaar made mandatory for new bank accounts,transactions above Rs.50,000.

With the amendments to the Prevention of Money Laundering (Maintenance of Records) Rules, 2005 notified earlier this month, banks will have to demand both Aadhaar and the Permanent Account Number (PAN) for verification of identity, starting June 1.

This programme is aimed at promoting awareness on different facets of life in India and the progress made by the country in various fields such as economic and education.

5. Gujarat CM flags off Astha Tourist Train from Sabarmati railway station.

The special train was launched on the occasion of centenary celebrations of Historic Sabarmani Ashram founded by Mahatma Gandhi. The special train has been jointly planned by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and the tourism department of Gujarat government. After leaving Sabarmati railway station in Ahmedabad, the train will travel for 10 days ‘to and fro trip’ to Bihar’s Betitah and Motihari, formerly known as Champaran, where Mahatma Gandhi had established another Ashram in 1917 to lead a successful Satyagrah for farmers. According to sources, 15 bogey train with 13 sleeper coaches, a pantry car and two guard coaches with total passengers capacity of 840 seats would visit important tourist attractions related to Gandhiji’s freedom movement.

6. Hybrid seed prices cut by 10% for 2017-18 kharif season.

The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting called by Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh in New Delhi yesterday to reduce voluntarily the seed prices. Mr Singh said, government appealed to the seed industry to bring down the prices of hybrid seeds in the interest of farmers and they have agreed to do so. Later in a tweet, he appreciated the seed industry for making collective decision in favour of farmers.

7. India’s first Aadhaar based iris eye scan customer verification and fingerprint operated ATM launched in Telangana by DCB bank.

These services will include a customer’s Aadhaar number, eye scan and fingerprint impression. The ATM also can be used with the usual ATM/ Debit Card. This launch coincides with inauguration of 3 new branches in Mancherial, Mothe and Narsapur.

8. Ana Brnabic to become the Serbia's first female and first openly gay Prime Minister.

She is the youngest minister in the government, serving currently as the minister of public administration and local government. She is a marketing expert and has worked for U.S. companies before she assumed her Serbian government job.

9. India will host the third annual meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank in 2018.

The third annual meeting of the AIIB’s board of governors will be held in Mumbai in June 2018. The first annual meeting was held in Beijing last year.

10. Katy Perry has become the first ever person to hit 100 million followers on Twitter.

She joined Twitter back in 2009 since then, she’s been an active user, sending out over 8,500 tweets. Justin Bieber and Barack Obama are not far behind with 97 million and 91 million followers respectively.
