1. Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind will be NDA nominee for Presidential election. Mr Kovind, who hails from Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, is a senior lawyer and BJP leader. 5. Venkaiah launches Urban housing project for financially backward people of Andhra pradesh. To give push to the National Mission of Housing for All in Andhra Pradesh, Union Minister of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation M Venkaiah Naidu today launched the urban housing project for financially backward people of state. The programme was launched through video conferencing from the national capital at a programme held in Vijayawada. The affordable housing project will be built in G+3 stories across 38 urban spaces in the State. |
6. Ashraf Ghani has inaugurated the first Afghanistan-India air corridor at the Kabul International Airport. The corridor is a direct route that will bypass Pakistan and is meant to improve commerce in Afghanistan. Mr. Ghani said on the occasion that the aim of the route is to create more opportunities and make Afghanistan an exporter country. Afghan President's adviser Sediqullah Mujadedi said Afghan agricultural products will for the first time head to India on cargo planes. |
7. Punjab govt announces debt waiver for farmers owning up to 5 acres. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today announced a debt waiver for sections of the farming sector. This included a total waiver of crop loans of up to Rs 2 lakh for all small and marginal farmers holding land up to 5 acres. He also announced a flat Rs 2 lakh relief for all other marginal farmers, irrespective of the loan amount thus paving the way for eventual total waiver of agricultural debts to implement another major poll promise of the ruling party. |

In China, ahead of the third UN International Day of Yoga, thousands of Chinese would participate in scores of events organized across the country.
