1. India's first open loop EMV contactless metro card has launched by Axis Bank and Kochi Metro.

open loop EMV contactless metro card that would make travel a convenient and hassle free experience for commuters in Kochi. Axis Bank has partnered with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in developing this transit EMV contactless specification on interoperable open standards.

2. China has unveiled the world's first train that operates on a virtual track using sensor technology.

he new trains are battery powered and are nonpolluting. The train's top speed is 70 kilometers per hour, and it can travel 25 kilometers in distance after just 10 minutes of charging. The train can reportedly carry up to 307 passengers despite the fact that it is only about 32 meters long. The vehicle is fitted with sensors that detect the dimensions of the road allowing it to follow routes without the need for metal rails.

3. Qatar Airways wins Skytrax World Airline Awards 2017 held in Paris.

TTravelers across the globe take part each year in the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey to decide the winners. Qatar Airways also won the World’s Best Business Class, the World’s Best First Class Lounge, and the Best Airline in the Middle East awards.

4. India, ASEAN step up cooperation to counter terrorism, cyber security.

xternal Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday said India and ASEAN have consciously striven to step up cooperation on counter-terrorism, cyber security, anti-piracy and other transnational crimes. Addressing a function in New Delhi, Mrs Swaraj said, combating drug abuse and drug trafficking remains a major challenge in the region.

5. ADB & India sign USD 275 million loan agreement for upgrading small towns in Madhya Pradesh.

The loan agreement is for improving urban services in 64 small towns in the State of Madhya Pradesh. The project will be carried out in the design-build-operate model (10-years) operation and maintenance to ensure better sustainability of the water service operation and financial viability. The project will run for almost five years with an expected completion date of June 2022.

6. Cabinet approves MoU for cooperation in Traditional Systems of Medicine, Homoeopathy between India & Sri Lanka.

The signing of the propsed MoU will enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of traditional medicine and homeopathy. This will be of immense importance to both countries considering their shared cultural heritage. The financial resources necessary to conduct research, training courses, and conferences will be met from the existing allocated Budget and existing plan schemes of AYUSH Ministry.

7. Uttarakhand has become the fourth Open Defecation Free state in india.

The Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar declared Uttarakhand as ODF state during Swachh Bharat Programme organized in ONGC, Dehradun on Thursday . In a major initiative under the cleanliness drive, Uttarakhand has got the status as a fourth Open Defecation Free (ODF) state after Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh and Kerala. On this occasion the Union Minister also felicitated Zila Panchayat members, Block Head and Gram Pradhans from different district.

8. MeitY launches Web Portal for smooth GST implementation.

In order to ensure smooth GST implementation from 1st July, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched a dedicated Webpage for facilitating taxpayers with regard to addressing issues related to Information Technology Services and Electronics goods. Webpage can be accessed through Ministry’s Web Portal www.meity.gov.in . Individuals, Companies and Entrepreneurs in IT and Electronics sector can visit the webpage for sector-specific information.

9. Australia to get world's tallest wooden office building.

The world's tallest wooden office building will open in the Australian city of Brisbane next year. The 52-metre office tower will be constructed using timber and glue, and feature ten floors. The building will be constructed using Glulam (glue-laminated timber) and cross-laminated timber, which has a structural strength comparable to concrete and steel.

10. Congress announced former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar as its candidate for the Presidential polls.

Seventy two-year-old Kumar, a Dalit leader from Bihar, will contest the elections against BJP-led NDA's candidate Ram Nath Kovind, who is also a Dalit. Meira Kumar had served as the Union Water Resources Minister in the UPA government in 2009.
