1. West Bengal Government's Kanyashree Prakalpa has won the first prize in UN Public Service Award for Asia Pacific.

Out of 552 initiatives from 62 different countries, West Bengal Government's initiative was chosen the best. The award was presented at The Hague, Netherlands. Kanyashree Prakalpa is a targeted conditional cash transfer scheme aimed at retaining girls in schools and other educational and skill development institutions and preventing child marriage.

2. The government has launched a portal on weather information that will help discoms manage power distribution.

Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines, launched the weather portal for power sector in association with POSOCO and IMD at the meeting of the Forum of Regulators in New Delhi today. The power ministry said in a statement that the weather information on the portal will also help in better planning for infrastructure availability to ensure cost effective and reliable supply. The portal provides regional weather outlook for current day and up to next 7 days.

3. The central bank has extended the scope of Banking Ombudsman Scheme.

As per RBI, under the amended scheme, a customer would also be able to lodge a complaint against the bank for its non-adherence to RBI instructions with regard to mobile banking/ electronic banking services in India. As per the amendment, the pecuniary jurisdiction of the Banking Ombudsman to pass an award has been doubled to 20 lakh rupees. The Reserve Bank extended the scope of Banking Ombudsman Scheme under which banks could be penalized for mis-selling third-party products like insurance and mutual funds via mobile or electronic banking.

4. Government has cleared proposal for setting up a new airport in Jewar in Greater Noida.

Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said, in-principle approval for a greenfield airport at Jewar has been granted to cater to the growing flying requirements of National Capital Region. He said, the Noida International Airport will cater to 30 to 50 million passengers per year over the next 10 to 15 years.

5. UP CM launches two web portals for anti-illegal possession of lands for online mutation..

ddressing the function held for launching of both the portals at Lucknow Mr. Yogi said that his government has zero tolerance on illegal possession and encroachment of lands. He directed the officials to effectively utilize the anti-illegal possession squads set up at Block, Tehsil and district headquarters and State level for actions against land mafias engaged in illegal possession activities. He said that anyone can lodge his or her complaints about illegal land possessions on the portal which will be dealt by special task force. The Chief Minister said that all applications for mutation will be received on line and entire mutation process will be transparent and easy. He said it will effectively check illegal mutations of lands.

6. Maharashtra government to launch ‘My Plant’ mobile app on tree plantation.

Maharashtra Forest Minister ‘Sudhir Mungantiwar’ has announced to launch (on 1st July) a mobile app named 'My Plant', which would help in recording data about tree plantations in the state. Using this app, people and organizations can feed the data about the saplings they have planted with the Forest Department

7. Sultan named Best Action Movie at Shanghai International Film Fest.

The Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer 'Sultan' won the Best Action Movie award at the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival. The film's director Ali Abbas Zafar said, "Receiving an award under the action category from Jackie Chan is just super special." With lifetime earnings of ₹300.45 crore, Sultan was the highest grossing film of the year 2016.

8. SpaceX has successfully launched and landed a recycled Falcon 9 rocket for the second time.

The rocket's 14-storey-tall core that houses the fuel and the rocket's main engines, touched down on one of the company's autonomous drone ships shortly after taking off. It's the 12th time SpaceX successfully landed one of these rocket stages.

9. EPFO, HUDCO inked pact for housing subsidy under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has signed an MoU with the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) to enable members of its housing scheme to avail subsidy and interest subvention under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

10. Mithali Raj became the first female cricketer to score seven consecutive 50+ scores in ODIs.

Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj became the first female cricketer to score seven consecutive 50+ scores in ODIs after crossing the landmark against England in the Women's World Cup on Saturday. Overall, Mithali is the cricketer with second-most number of consecutive 50+ scores in ODIs, after former Pakistani captain Javed Miandad, who scored nine consecutive 50+ scores.
