1. India and Portugal have signed eleven MOUs for cooperation in various areas. These areas including double taxation avoidance, science and technology, trade and investment, nanotechnology, space research, administrative reforms and culture. 11 MoU's were exchanged out of which seven and there was the announcement of the launch of a joint science fund for which both India and Portugal will contribute Euros two million each. 5 of the MoU's were in the area of science and technology. |
2. More than 10 lakh devotees participated in the occasion of annual world famous Rath Yatra In odisha. This is the only time in the entire year that the devotees saw Lord Jagannath leaving the Puri Jagannath temple with his brother Balram and sister Subhadra. Three majestically decorated chariots carrying idols of deities were towed this afternoon from Puri Jagannath temple along the three kilometer stretch of Grand Road on a nine-day sojourn to Gundicha Temple, their aunt's place. |
3. Union Minister of MSMEs Kalraj Mishra has sanctioned a Technology Centre for Tripura. For that, around Rs 20 crores will be provided to the state Govt. He said this after inaugurating the building complex of MSME-Development Institute and mini tool room in Agartala. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Mishra said this centre will be utilized for bamboo and rubber related enterprising works, which, in turn, will benefit the youth of the state. He also urged the Tripura Govt. to look into the coir sector and suggested to establish coir industry in the state. |
4. Haryana government will implement a health insurance scheme in the state to provide free health services to the poor. The state government will bear the cost of the premium. Chief Minister Manohar Lal said this after inaugurating a medical college and hospital at Mohri village in Kurukshetra district yesterday. He said the state government is establishing medical colleges in every district to meet the shortage of doctors in government hospitals. Chief Minister also said that as many as 28 colleges will be established in the state over the next two years. |
5. IDFC has appointed Sunil Kakar as MD and CEO for three years. The Board of Directors of the Company at its meeting held on 24.06.2017 has approved the appointment of Sunil Kakar as Managing Director and CEO of the company for a period of 3 years w.e.f. July 16, 2017, subject to the approval of the shareholders at the ensuing AGM of the company," IDFC said in a stock exchange filing. Kakar has also been appointed as Additional Director. IDFC also announced that its board has approved the resignation of Vikram Limaye from the post of MD and CEO. He has been appointed Managing Director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange (NSE). |
6. India has created a world record for most 300-plus scores in ODIs. With 96th 300-plus total, India have now surpassed Australia to score most totals of 300 or more in the ODIs. The other teams posted 300+ scores in ODIs as follows: Australia 95, South Africa 77, Pakistan 68, Sri Lanka 62, England 57 and New Zealand 51. |
7. Roger Federer has clinched a record ninth Halle Open title He was crushing last year's finalist Alexander Zverev 6-1 6-3 to lay down a marker in the lead-up to Wimbledon. The 35-year-old, defeated in his first comeback match in Stuttgart last week, was aggressive from the start, breaking in the first game to take control. Federer kept world number 12 Zverev on his toes and earned a second break point with some deft volleying, which he pounced on to race through the first set in 24 minutes. |

The 15-year-old registered a score of 579, going past the previous record of 574 set in 2002. India also bagged the team silver, moving to second place in the medals tally. |
9. Indian boxer Ankush Dahiya clinched a gold at the Ulaanbaatar Cup boxing tournament in Mongolia . The 19-year-old defeated Korean Man Choe Chol, while India's Commonwealth Games silver medalist Devendro Singh lost to Indonesia's Aldoms Suguro to win a silver medal on the final day. India finished the tournament with a gold, a silver and three bronze medals. |
10. Kidambi Srikanth has lifted the Australian Open Superseries trophy in Sydney. In the summit clash, 11th world ranked Srikanth stunned former world number one and Rio Olympics Gold medalist Chen Long of China in straight games, 22-20, 21-16. It was Srikanth's first victory over the Chinese in 6 matches. The trophy is Srikanth's second this season and fourth overall. |
