1. According to Institute of Economics and Peace, India ranked 137th in the Global Peace Index 2017.

Iceland has been named the world's most peaceful country, topping the Global Peace Index for the tenth consecutive year followed by New Zealand and Portugal at second and third position while Syria has been named the least peaceful country.

2.Shashi Shekar Vempati appointed as new CEO of Prasar Bharti.

He will have a tenure of five years from the date of assumption of office. According to an official release, he was appointed on the recommendation of the three member committee headed by Vice President M. Hamid Ansari. Mr. Vempati is currently serving as a part time member of the Prasar Bharati Board since February last year.

3. Devendra Fadnavis launched a web portal 'Mahaswayam' for job seekers, employers.

'Mahaswayam' will cater to job seekers, employers, entrepreneurs, and training institutes who can avail details regarding skill development and employment.

4. Prithvi-II missile has successfully test fired by India from a test range in Odisha.

It is as part of a user trial by the Army. The trial of the surface-to-surface missile, which has a strike range of 350 km, was carried out using a mobile launcher of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha.

5. S. Ganesh Kumar appointed as the Executive Director (ED) of RBI.

He will look after the departments of Information Technology, Payment and Settlement Systems and External Investments and Operations. Kumar had joined the Reserve Bank in 1984 and served in the areas of payment systems, supervision, foreign exchange, information technology and Government and Bank Accounts.

6. NAAC receives Asia Pacific Quality Network Award 2017.

National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India has received International Award of Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN) Quality Award 2017 for International Co-operation in Quality Assurance in Moscow, Russia.

7. Road ministry launches An E-commerce platform INAM PRO+ for infra raw material.

The website 'inampro.nic.in' launched by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL), a road ministry public sector undertaking, will act as a repository of all raw materials suppliers and manufacturers in the country from where people and construction companies, along with public sector companies, can buy construction material at competitive rates.

8. Leo Varadkar will be the Prime minister of Republic of Ireland.

The 38-year-old will become the first gay Prime Minister and will also be the country's youngest ever leader. Mr Varadkar beat his rival, Housing Minister Simon Coveney, with 60 per cent of the votes to lead Fine Gael - the biggest party in the coalition government. He will succeed Enda Kenny as leader of the centre-right party within weeks.

9. A satellite for high-precision positioning system has launched by Japan.

A 'H-IIA' rocket blasted off from the Tanegashima space center in southern Japan carrying the 'Michibiki' No.2 satellite. The Michibiki system is capable of covering the Asia-Oceania region and works with the US-operated Global Positioning System (GPS).

10. Mouma-Manika make history by becoming first Indian pair to reach quarters in World TT Championships.

In the men's singles, top-ranked Indian Sharath Kamal stormed into the round of 32 beating Ukraine’s Kou Lei in straight games of 11-3, 11-9, 14-12, 11-3. Mouma and Manika created history with luck on their side as they got a walkover from the Netherlands and Polish combination of Li Jie and Li Quian, the latter reportedly was hopsitalised last night after falling sick.
