1.India has surpassed China to secure the top position among 30 developing countries on ease of doing business.

According to a study that cited India’s rapidly expanding economy, relaxation of FDI rules and a consumption boom as the key drivers. The GRDI was titled as ‘The Age of Focus’, ranks China in second place. Malaysia was in the third position in the list. The 16th edition of the 2017 Global Retail Development Index (GRDI), ranks the top 30 developing countries for retail investment worldwide and analyzed 25 macroeconomic and retail-specific variables.

2. Mysuru is the first city in India to have a public bicycle sharing system 'Trin Trin'.

Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah has recently launched India’s first public bicycle sharing (PBS) initiative 'Trin Trin' in Mysuru. A short video detailing various aspects of Trin Trin and a mobile app were also released on the occasion. The World Bank, Global Environmental Fund, and state govt have jointly funded the initiative. A total of 450 bicycles can be borrowed from 48 docking stations set up across the City for a nominal fee.

3. India's first single-women pensions scheme has launched by Telangana government.

Single women will be given Rs 1,000 per month. It is the first such scheme in India. The government had also increased the Kalyana Laxmi and Shaadi Mubarak scheme amount from Rs50,116 to Rs75,116. Children of single women would be admitted into all Telangana Residential Educational Institutions without having to write an examination or waiting for the lottery system.

4.The book “The Ministry of Utmost Happiness” has been authored by Arundhati Roy, was released.

t is fiction-based novel and will be published by Hamish Hamilton UK and Penguin India. Booker prize-winning novel ‘The God of Small Things’ after 20 years, Arundhati Roy has announced the release of her next novel titled “The Ministry of Utmost Happiness”.

5. UG will appoint Nyaya Mitras across the country to expedite the cases pending for last 10 years in lower courts.

Addressing a function at Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court to inaugurate the Tele Law Service through Common Service Centers, Union Law and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced that retired judges will be appointed as Nyaya Mitras to expedite the over seven lakh fifty thousand cases pending across the country. He said, Government is committed to providing justice to poor people in fast, smooth and affordable manner. The Minister said, the number of Common Service centers has been increased to two lakh fifty thousand across the country and they are providing 300 kinds of services to the common people. He appealed Para Legal Volunteers, PLVs, working at these centers to make themselves dependable for poor people.

6. India signs agreement to provide Srilanka with 318 million USD for Railway.

he agreement was signed in Colombo amidst the presence of senior officials of Sri Lanka’s finance and transport ministries. The Indian side was represented by Managing Director of the Export- Import (EXIM) Bank of India David Rasquinha and Deputy High commissioner Arindam Bagchi. India has already provided four Lines of Credit for the development of railway sector in Sri Lanka through its EXIM bank amounting to approximately USD 966 million. These credit facilities have been utilized to improve the Southern and Northern railway lines and for the procurement of rolling stocks for the Sri Lanka Railways.

7. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has been elected new prime minister of Nepal.

Out of 593 parliamentarians, 388 voted in his favour. He will be 40th prime minister of Nepal. 70 year old Deuba will take charge of prime ministership fourth time. The veteran Nepali Congress leader first became prime minister in 1995 and later in 2001 and 2004. He was first elected member of parliament in 1991 from Dadeldhura district. Deuba started his political career as student leader.

8. 5th international conference of SPIC MACAY inaugrated by Modi at IIT Delhi.

he conference coincides with the 40th year of inception of SPIC MACAY. SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) organizes an International Convention every year to expose the youth from across the world to the rich and multi-hued culture of India

9. EESL to replace 10 lakh street lights in Andhra Pradesh .

The union govt. will retrofit 10 lakh conventional street lights with LED lights in Gram Panchayats of 7 districts (Guntur, Prakasham, Nellore, Kurnool, Kadapa, Ananthapur, and Chittoor) in Andhra Pradesh, under center's Street Lighting National Project. It will help the gram panchayats to save annually approximately 147 million units of electricity. The cost of this project is being funded by French Development Agency.

10. Govt suspends further allocation under PMKVY 2.0 in 3 states.

The government is believed to have suspended further allocation under the skilling scheme Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 2.0) in three states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan after finding irregularities like fraudulent enrolment of ghost candidates by the franchisee skill centres. the irregularities like fraudulent enrolments came to light after it was found that the franchisees outsourced training of the candidates to third parties against the mandate of the PMKVY. The franchisee centres were only permitted to invite investments in assets like land, building and investments. However, the allocation of franchisee centres in other states under PMKVY continues and there is no plan to suspend them
