It compiles various tax tools, live chat facility, dynamic updates, and important links to various processes within the Income Tax Department in a single module. This e-initiative would not only provide better taxpayer services but would also help in reducing the direct physical interface between assesses and tax assessing authorities. |

3. The government has merged the urban development and housing and urban poverty alleviation ministries to form MoHUA. 4. Eighth Meeting of SAARC Ministers of Law & Order has begun in Colombo. The three-day Eighth meeting of the SAARC Ministers of Law and Order preceded by meeting of the SAARC Secretaries of Law and Order and Immigration Authorities has begun in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The meeting will focus on the issue of tackling terrorism apart from discussing liberalization of visa, illegal trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and small arms. |
5. Ministry of Health signs MoU with Government of West Bengal to set up Centre of Excellence in Transfusion Medicine. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare signed an MoU with the Government of West Bengal to formalize its support to set up a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence in Transfusion Medicine at Kolkata. The Centre of Excellence in Transfusion Medicine will be set up in Kolkata. The initiative helps in strengthening the blood transfusion services in the State and the surrounding region. |
6. India to organise global food fair in November 2017 to boost food sector. The Union Government of India will organize a global food fair in November this year to provide a platform to Indian farmers and manufacturers to showcase their products and explore partnerships with foreign companies. The three-day international level fair 'World Food India 2017 is being organized on November 3-5 by the Food Processing Ministry. |
7. World Population Day has observed globally on 11th July. the World Population Day is observed across the world on 11th July to increase the awareness of the people towards the worldwide population issues. The theme of this year is ‘Family Planning- Empowering People, Developing Nations’. |
8. Suresh Prabhu has inaugurated the Science Express Climate Action Special at Madgaon station. He has inaugrated it through videoconferencing from New Delhi. The Science Express is an innovative mobile science exhibition of the Department of Science and Technology mounted on a 16-coach AC train. The objective is to increase awareness on climate change and its mitigation among various sections of society, especially students. Mr Prabhu said, every citizen should shoulder their responsibility for environmental protection. |
9. Karnataka has constituted a committee to design State flag. The State has constituted a nine-member committee headed by Principal Secretary, Department of Kannada and Culture, to study and submit a report to the government on the possibility of “designing a separate flag for Karnataka and providing it a statutory standing.” |
10. Okinoshima Island, Japan’s men-only island was declared as a UNESCO world heritage site. The island will be the 17th set of Japanese cultural assets to be granted this status and overall 21st in the list. The island is part of the prefecture’s Munakata region. It is located in south-west Japan between the main island of Kyushu and the Korean Peninsula in the Sea of Japan (East Sea).
