1.Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to provide women an injectable contraceptive for free.

The state’s public health department launched a program called Antara to offer women an injection of Medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), a birth-control hormone.The announcements were made on the occasion of World Population Day (11th July). According to state health officials, the injection, a safe means of birth control, is effective for three months.

2. Mother Teresa’s Blue-Bordered Sari is the first sari to get a uniform as an intellectual property.

The Blue-bordered sari of Mother Teresa has been recognized as an Intellectual Property of the Missionaries of Charity. The blue border pattern is a distinctive symbolic identity of Missionaries of Charity under the concept of color trademark protection.

3. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley inaugurated the 36th NABARD Foundation Day in New Delhi.

He also inaugrated Silver Jubilee of SHG Bank Linkage Programme, in New Delhi. Self Help Group Bank Linkage Programme (SHG BLP) is a pioneering initiative of Financial Inclusion by NABARD. The pilot stage of this program was started in year 1992.

4. President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurates ‘Ashiana Annexe’ in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the annexe of the presidential retreat Ashiana which has accommodation facilities for accompanying officers and staff of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Ashiana retreat was built originally as a bungalow of the commandant of the President's Bodyguard and was revived by Mukherjee after long years of disuse.

5.SBI waives charge on IMPS fund transfer of up to Rs 1,000

GST at the rate of 18% is applicable on all financial transactions. Earlier, SBI had been charging Rs. 5 along with the applicable service tax for IMPS fund transfer of up to Rs. 1,000. For IMPS, a charge will be Rs. 5 along GST for fund transfer in the range of Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1 lakh and the charge will go up to Rs. 15 for transactions of Rs. 1-2 lakhs.

6. Chhattisgarh state govt. has decided to merge all regional Co-Operative Banks into a mega-State Co-Operative Bank.

the 264 branches will remain functional and will here on work as Scheduled Co-Operative Banks. It will help in reducing the interests on farm loans by up to 2%. The farmers will get modern facilities including core banking, mobile and internet banking.

7. National Green Tribunal has banned use of nylon and synthetic manja.

National Green Tribunal (NGT) imposed a ban on nylon and synthetic ‘manja’ the string used to fly kites as it poses a threat to the lives of birds, animals and humans. State governments have been directed to prohibit the “manufacture, sale, storage, purchase and use” of synthetic ‘manja’ or nylon threads and all other synthetic threads used for flying kites.

8. Axis Bank has tied up with IIC to boost trade with Latin America

Axis Bank becomes the first Indian bank to participate in the Trade Finance Facilitation Programme as a confirming bank. IIC, a member of the Inter-American Development Bank Group, is a multilateral development bank committed to supporting the private sector in Latin America and the Caribbean.

9.Mithali Raj became the first women’s player to reach 6000 ODI runs.

Mithali Raj has been India’s premier player ever since she made her debut in 1999.She has 48 not-outs to her name, which is the most in women’s cricket.

10. Ravi Shastri is the new coach of Indian Cricket Team.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named former all-rounder and captain ‘Ravi Shastri’ (55-year) as the new chief coach of the Indian cricket team till ICC World Cup 2019. Former fast bowler ‘Zaheer Khan’ has also appointed as bowling coach for a period of two years. Former Indian Captain ‘Rahul Dravid’ has appointed as batting consultant for specific overseas tours.
