1. India’s first Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) will be established in Punjab.

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry has signed an Institutional agreement with the Punjab State Council of Science and Technology in New Delhi to establish TISC. The objective of the TISC is to stimulate a dynamic, vibrant and balanced Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) system in India to foster creativity and innovation.

2. India has ranked 116 out of 157 nations on the 2017 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Index.

Sweden has topped the list.SDG Index report released by Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and Bertelsmann Stiftung. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a set of 17 ‘Global Goals’ with 169 targets covering various sectors like health, education, and climate change among others.

3.Maharashtra has become the first state to make social boycott a crime after President clearence.

Maharashtra is the first Indian state to formulate a law to punish social boycott. Punishment for an offense under the Prohibition of Social Boycott Bill includes a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh and imprisonment of up to seven years or both. The social boycott for reasons such as religious rituals, inter-caste marriage, lifestyle, dress or vocation would also invite stringent punishment.

4. Kishore Sansi, MD & CEO of Vijaya Bank, has been conferred the ‘Personality of the Year’ award.

the ‘Personality of the Year’ award conferred by Skoch Consultancy Services. The award is part of the ‘Skoch Banking and Financial Leadership’ series. Past recipients of the award include C Rangarajan, Dilip Parekh and Nandan Nilekani.

5. Indian Railways launches RailCloud, NIVARAN & CTSE Scheme.

Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu has launched RailCloud project, NIVARAN-Grievance Portal (First IT Application on Rail Cloud), Cashless treatment Scheme in Emergency (CTSE) Scheme and Handing over of 1st CTSE Card.

6. Indian scientists has discoverd supercluster of galaxies 'Saraswati' For the first time.

Indian scientists have discovered an extremely large supercluster of galaxies, which is as big as 20 million billion suns. Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) team of astronomers has named it ‘Saraswati’. This is one of the largest known structures in the neighbourhood of the universe, 4,000 million light-years away from Earth and roughly more than 10 billion years old.

7. 22nd World Petroleum Congress (WPC) held in Istanbul.

The 22nd World Petroleum Congress (WPC) International Conference was held recently in Istanbul, Turkey. Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan visited Istanbul to represent India at the Conference. The theme for 22nd World Petroleum Congress was ‘Bridges To Our Energy Future’.

8. YES Bank gets $150 mn from OPIC to fund SME lending.

Private sector YES Bank has received $150 million funding from the US government and Wells Fargo to increase lending to support women entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises in India. This is the third round of funding to the bank as part of arrangement with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) -the US government development finance institution and Wells Fargo.

9. Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu dedicated country's first solar powered DEMU train.

The 1600 Horse Power train with solar powered coaches has special battery bank for use during night hours. The train will run from Sarai Rohilla in Delhi to Farukh Nagar in Haryana. A total of 16 solar panels, each producing 300 watt, are fitted in six coaches. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, it is a path breaking leap towards making Indian Railways greener and more environment friendly.

10. J P Nadda launched National Strategic Plan for Malaria Elimination by 2027.

The Strategic Plan gives year wise elimination targets in various parts of the country depending upon the endemicity of malaria in the next 5 years.
