1. India, Bangladesh sign pact to connect both countries by waterways. The waterways will facilitate movement of passengers and goods between India's northeast and West Bengal with Bangladesh. Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya said in Agartala that infrastructure for the services would be set up along the major rivers in Bangladesh, West Bengal and Brahmaputra in Assam. He said, the services are expected to start by the end of this year. |
2.Arun Jaitley inaugurates Sainik Rest House in New Delhi Defence Minister Arun Jaitley today inaugurated the Sainik Rest House in New Delhi on Sunday. It is the 315th Rest House of the Kendriya Sainik Board, which is built at a cost of around 8 crore rupees. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jaitley expressed hope that this is the beginning of an initiative and the Kendriya Sainik Board will be able to expand on these in the years to come so that such facilities become an integral part of facilities for Ex-Servicemen. |
3. SBI and Carlyle Group will acquire GE Capital's entire stake in SBI Card. State Bank of India (SBI), the Carlyle Group and GE have announced that they have signed definitive agreements, whereby SBI and Carlyle Group will acquire GE Capital's entire stake in SBI Card, the second-largest credit card franchise in India. SBI Card is operated through two joint venture companies, SBI Cards & Payment Services and GE Capital Business Process Management Services, which issue credit cards and process card transactions in the Indian market. |
4. Kiren Rijiju has inaugurated RIWATCH Museum in Arunachal Pradesh. Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju has inaugurated the Research Institution of World Ancient, Traditional, Culture & Heritage (RIWATCH) Museum at Roing in Arunachal Pradesh. Later, on the sideline of his visit to Roing, Rijiju also inaugurated the 235-meter long Chimari Bridge, which would serve as a life line between the National Highway 52 of Roing-Tezu. |
5. According to NITI Aayog , India growth rate will be 7.5 percent for 2017-18. NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya has said that India is likely to clock a 7 point 5 per cent economic growth in the current fiscal. He said in New York that towards the last quarter of the current fiscal, growth rate will begin to touch eight per cent but the average for the year will be about 7.5 per cent. Mr Panagariya, however, acknowledged that job creation in the country, especially at the lower, semi-skilled level, truly is the biggest challenge, probably bigger than growing at eight per cent. |
6. Radio broadcasting in country completes 90 years on 23rd july 2017. Radio broadcast completes 90 years in country today and first ever radio broadcast in the country went on the air from the Bombay Station on July 23, 1927 under a private company, the Indian Broadcasting Company. On 8th of June, 1936, the Indian State Broadcasting Service became All India Radio. All India Radio (AIR) has been serving to inform, educate and entertain the masses since it's inception, truly living up to its motto. All India Radio, now under Prasar Bharati, has the distinction of being one of the major broadcasting organizations in the world. |
7. Meghalaya CM has launched ‘Mission Football’ in Shillong. Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma launched ‘Mission Football’ at a grand ceremony at JN Sports Complex, Shillong on Saturday. During the occasion, Dr Mukul Sangma said that through this mission the future of Meghalaya can be foreseen when the State will be connected with the rest of the world because of the love and passion for the game. He said that the game brings everyone together and the Government is focused on creating a dedicated environment to enable our potential footballers to get the right kind of nurturing and hand holding to ensure that Meghalaya ultimately becomes the power house of football. |

9. India ended their World Para Athletics Championship campaign with five medals in London. The meadels included a gold, two silver and two bronze medals. The lone Gold came through Sundar Gurjar in men's javelin throw F-46 event. Overall, India finished outside top-30 in the medal standings. India were represented by 29 para-athletes, including five women. |
