1. UN has selectd Dubai as data hub for MENASA region.

The UN has selected Dubai as the data hub for the Middle East North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) region for the city’s integrated initiatives to mine and manage its data. The work is already under way to prepare Dubai as the regional city data hub. The designation will be part of a portfolio of local and regional data portals, analytics and reports to engage stakeholders and help accelerate progress.

2. Union Government has launched Mobile App 'Aarambh' for Road Maintenance.

Union Minister for Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Drinking Water & Sanitation- Shri Narendra Singh Tomar and Deputy Director General (Policy) of International Labour Organization (ILO) Ms. Deborah Greenfield have launched the Mobile App for Road Maintenance “Aarambh”. This Mobile Phone App aims at the use of GIS based mapping for making road inventories, condition surveys, and producing cost estimates and other relevant data for preparation and monitoring of annual road maintenance plans.

3. AAI and Uttarakhand Government has signd agreement on aviation development.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Government of Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA). The scope of the MoU is to identify relevant factors influencing the development of Civil Aviation infrastructure in Uttarakhand. It will assess the commercial potential of various airports of the State, identifying technical considerations for airport operations in the State, evaluating site related technical and engineering parameters for development of projects.

4. IOC will operate India’s first petroleum R&D facility for testing high-end BS-VI quality fuel emissions.

Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Petroleum Minister, has launched the India’s first petroleum Research & Development (R&D) facility for testing high-end BS-VI quality fuel emissions in Faridabad in the National Capital Region (NCR). The R & D facility will be operated by state-run Indian Oil Corp (IOC) and is designed to test all types of fuel including petrol, diesel, ethanol-blended petrol, bio-diesel, CNG, LNG, hydrogen-CNG and 2G-ethanol blends to ensure they meet the superior BS-VI norms that are to be implemented across the country by April 2020.

5. Renowned scientist and educationist Professor Yash Pal passes away.

Renowned scientist Professor Yash Pal passed away last night at his residence in Noida in Uttar Pradesh. He was 90. According to family sources, he will be cremated at the Lodhi Road crematorium in New Delhi this afternoon. The globally renowned physicist and higher education reformer began his career at Mumbai's Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. Professor Pal was born in 1926 in Jhang district of British India that is now in Pakistan.

6. Sweden to hold its biggest military drills in 20 years.

Sweden is preparing to hold its 'first and biggest' military exercise in over 20 years, involving all of its military branches as well as troops from several NATO countries. The drills are aimed at strengthening Sweden's defence capabilities and creating a "credible and visible" deterrent to warn potential enemies against the risks of attacking Sweden, the country's Armed Forces said

7. Aurionpro launches a Bank in a Box to reduce branch expansion cost for banks.

Aurionpro Solutions a global leader in digital innovation, enterprise security and banking solutions, announced its Branch-in-a-Box product, the Virtual Teller Machine (VTM) a fully integrated self-service kiosk for automating 90% of banking transactions at the branch level. Speaking on the occasion,, “Bank Branches have a dire need to reinvent themselves as cost pressures mount and reducing transaction based revenue force them to downsize and become leaner.

8. Mumbai to host India's first WTA event since 2012.

India will host its first WTA tournament in five years when the city of Mumbai stages a USD 125,000 event in November, giving home players an opportunity to compete with the world's top-50. Yet again, it is Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) which has come forward to bring the much- needed tournament to the country. MSLTA had recently bagged the hosting rights of India's ATP World Tour event, Chennai Open and it was re-branded as Maharashtra Open, to be held in Pune

9.India to host men's World Boxing Championship in 2021, women's Meet in 2018.

In a historic first for Indian boxing, the country will host the men's World Championship for the first time in 2021 besides next year's women's World Championship. The International Boxing Association (AIBA) made the announcement at the end of its two-day executive committee meeting in Moscow. India has never conducted the men's World Championship but has played host to the 2006 women's mega-event. The major men's boxing events hosted by India have been the 1990 World Cup in Mumbai and the 2010 Commonwealth Championships in New Delhi.

10. Prannoy has Clinched 2017 US Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton title.

Rising shuttler H S Prannoy defeated Parupalli Kashyap to clinch the $120000 US Open Grand Prix Gold in Anaheim, California. Prannoy defeated Kashyap 21-15 20-22 21-12 in the summit clash, which lasted an hour and five minutes. In the women’s singles category of the tournament, Aya Ohori of Japan won the final by defeating Michelle Li of Canada.
