1. Axis Bank has acquired Snapdeal-owned Freecharge for Rs385 crore. The deal is subject to regulatory approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the indicative time-frame to complete the acquisition is two months, the private sector lender said in an exchange filing. According to the RBI regulations, any bank can have one license for prepaid payments instrument(PPI) like FreeCharge. Axis Bank already have a PPI license, the lender has surrender one of the licenses. |

Technology giant Microsoft has officially launched ‘Kaizala’, a productivity app that has been designed to enhance the collaboration and communication experience for Indian enterprises. The ‘Made for India’ app is designed for large group communications and work management and works even on 2G networks. The product will make it possible for organizations to interact with people within the organization as well as outside like partners and vendors in a seamless manner. |
4.PM Modi has inaugurated a national memorial of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in Rameshwaram. The Kalam memorial was built by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Pei Karumbu. The memorial, built at a cost of 20 crores, blends Mughal and Indian architecture. Its main entrance resembles Delhi's India gate and the main door is a replica of the entrance of the Brihadiswara Temple in Tanjavur. |

9. Reliance Defence launches first two Navy ships ‘Shachi’ and ‘Shruti’. Reliance Infrastructure subsidiary Reliance Defence and Engineering Limited (RDEL) announced the launch of its first two Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels (NOPVs) at their shipyard in Pipavav, Gujarat. The two NOPVs, 'Shachi' and 'Shruti' are among five ships being constructed by RDEL under the P-21 project of the Indian Navy. It is the first private shipyard in India to obtain defence production licence and sign a contract for defence ships in 2011. |
10. Kylie Masse won gold in a new world-record time at the world aquatics championships in Budapest. Canada’s Kylie Masse (21-year) stormed to women's 100m backstroke gold in a new world-record time at the world aquatics championships in Budapest. Earlier, she tied for the bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in 100 m backstroke. Masse clocked 58.10 seconds and breaks Gemma Spofforth’s previous mark of 58.12 seconds from the 2009 championships. |
