1. New Israeli Crysanthumun flower named after “MODI”.

Commemorating Modi’s visit to Israel, Danziger Flower Farm named the flower Chrysanthemum as Modi. Modi visited the farm along with his Israeli counterpart Netanyahu where they were briefed about the latest technologies being used for floriculture. The farm is one of Israel’s leading floriculture companies with 80,000 m2 of state-of-the-art greenhouses specialising in reproduction of plants.

2. Sanjay Kumar has appointed as the new chief of the National Disaster Response Force.

The post of NDRF director general (DG) fell vacant after incumbent R K Pachnanda was appointed as the chief of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. Kumar, who is the director general of police in Himachal Pradesh, is set to retire in December next year.

3. Karnataka government has launched the ‘Elevate 100’ scheme to identify and nurture innovative start-ups.

The aim is to identify 100 most innovative start-ups in the state to elevate them to the next level of success. ii. The Elevate scheme is the brainchild of the start-up cell, Karnataka Biotechnology and Information Technology Services (KBITS) to help start-ups across the state.

4. 999: World’s oldest emergency helpline number turns 80-yr-old in UK.

The world’s oldest emergency helpline 999 today completed 80 years of its existence in the UK with Scotland Yard celebrating the “cornerstone” of the British policing by organising several events. In the early days of the 1930s, just 24 staff in the old Victoria Embankment headquarters of the Metropolitan Police dealt with a couple of hundred calls a day. It was launched after a major fire in London in 1935 resulted in five fatalities. A committee was set up to look at how telephone operators could identify emergency calls.

5. Union Environment Minister ‘Dr. Harsh Vardhan’ has launched a month-long plantation drive ‘Van Mahotsav’.

He has launched Van Mahotsav drive at Ram Lila Park, C. C Colony, and Model Town early this morning in Delhi. He also advised people to plant native trees because they readily adapt to local climate, integrate into the eco-system. Van Mahotsav is usually observed in the first week of July every year and is celebrated on different days in different parts of India.

6. Arunachal Pradesh has celebrated 'Dree festival'.

the most popular ‘Dree festival’ of ‘Apatani community’ is being celebrated across the Arunachal Pradesh with traditional pomp and gaiety. ‘Apatanis’ pray their traditional Gods to bring in a bountiful harvest season along with the defeat of destructive forces in the society through this festival.

7. Telangana to have separate agriculture budget from next year.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who held a meeting with ministers and officials on agriculture in Hyderabad has decided to substantially enhance funds for the agriculture sector and present a separate agriculture budget. Rao also asked the officials to form farmers' associations at various levels -- from villages to the state – to organise the cultivators.

8. Microfinance Institutions Network has re-elected Rakesh Dubey as its president .

The industry association and self-regulator for the NBFC-MFIs has also elected Devesh Sachdev, chief executive of Fusion Microfinance as vice president. Prior to joining the SVCL, Dubey was involved in the formation of Sonata Finance and Cashpor Micro Credit.

9. The United Forum of Bank Unions has decided to observe July 19 as ‘Save public sector banks’ day.

The United Forum of Bank Unions has decided to observe July 19, the 48th anniversary of nationalization of major banks, as ‘Save public sector banks’ day.Members will wear a commemorative badge on the day, display posters in front of all branches, distribute leaflets and hold rallies/demonstrations at all centers across the country.

10. 22nd Asian Athletics Championships has been inaugurated at Kalinga Stadium in Odisha.

This edition of the tournament will be the biggest event in the competition's history, with the participation of over 800 athletes from 45 countries. It is for the third time that the tournament will be held in India after being first held in 1977. The AAC has been hosted by New Delhi in 1989 and Pune in 2013 earlier. The event holds a lot of importance as the winners of the Asian Athletics Championship will be given direct entry into the IAFF World Championships, which is slated to take place in August. There are 42 events in total — 21 for men and 21 for women
