1. Fifth Meeting of BRICS Education Ministers 2017 held in China. Indian delegation was led by Prakash Javadekar, Minister of HRD. AIIB has approved USD 329 million loan to build roads in Gujarat. Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has approved a USD 329 million loan to build access roads to 4,000 villages in 33 Gujarat districts. It aims to construct & upgrade district and farm-to-market roads for the villagers and provide approaches to educational institutions, schools and hospitals. |
4. Pradeep Kumar Rawat appointed Ambassador of India to Indonesia. Shri Pradeep Kumar Rawat (IFS: 1990) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Indonesia. Currently he is Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs. |
5. 10th Session of the India- Jordan Trade and Economic Joint Committee held in New Delhi. The 10TH India-Jordan Trade and Economic Joint Committee (TEJC) Meeting was held in New Delhi on 4th and 5th July, 2017 under the co-chairs of Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and H.E Eng. Mr. Yarub Qudah, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. On this occasion, the two countries emphasized the need for diversification of bilateral trade and deepening their engagements for greater cooperation in investment sector. |
6. Piyush Goyal launched the MERIT app and e-bidding portal for offering an e-Bidding solution to States. Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal launched a portal for optimum utilization of domestic coal by independent power producer (IPP). The web portal would save the consumer close to Rs. 20,000 crore five years down the line.They cost by 10 paise per unit by rationalizing coal supply made possible through the e-bid portal. |
7. Yes bank has partnered with Indus Os and singed a MOU with Santander . YES Bank has partnered with Indus OS to launch OS-integrated Unified Payment Interface payment platform in India. Users with Indus OS will be able to use this UPI payment platform on SMS/ messaging, dialler interface, and on third party apps like WhatsApp. Yes Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in London with Santander to promote India-UK trade and business opportunities. The deal is aimed at Santander UK, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Spanish Santander Group, offering its clients in Britain access to banking facilities and on-the- ground support through Yes Bank network across India. |
8. EPFO has signed agreements with 4 private banks and 1 public sector bank. It is for the collection of provident fund dues and make payments of PF withdrawals, pension and insurance at zero transaction charges. The agreement has been signed with Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank. The agreement will help EPFO save around ₹125 crore a year. |
9. India has moved four places up to the 96th position in the FIFA World ranking. Indian National Football has managed to secure 96th spot at the latest FIFA world football rankings. 10. Pankaj Advani-led Indian clinched Asian Snooker Championship. India's leading cueist Pankaj Advani teamed up with Laxman Rawat to demolish Pakistan in the final of the Asian Team Snooker Championship in Bishskek, Kyrgyszstan. Advani held his nerve and completed the task of clearing the frame along with Rawat and winning the final 3-0. |
