1. 12th G20 summit has begun at Hamburg,Germany.

 Hamburg hosted the twelfth G20 Summit on the 7th and 8th of July, 2017. The G20, or group of 20, is an international meeting between heads of states, finance ministers and central bank governors from the world’s leading economies.German Chancellor Angela Merkel is hosting this year’s G20 Summit in Hamburg.

2. Saima Wazed Hossain has been appointed as the WHO goodwill ambassador for autism .

Saima Wazed Hossain, a globally renowned champion for the cause of autism spectrum disorder has been appointed as the WHO's goodwill ambassador for autism in the world body's Southeast Asia region. Her appointment is for a period of two years.

3. Tata Steel has won PM’s trophy for being the best performing integrated steel plant in India during 2014-15 & 2015-16.

This is Tata Steel’s 3rd consecutive win of PM’s trophy. Till now, Tata Steel has been recognised as the best integrated steel plant 12 times and has bagged PM’s trophy 10 times.

4. Centre has launched an app – GST Rates Finder to verify the accurate tax rate.

Centre has launched an app – GST Rates Finder to verify the accurate tax rate on commodity and services under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley launched the app in New Delhi. ii. Through this app, user can determine GST rate by entering the name of the commodity or service.

5.Guruswamy Jayraman has been awarded the highest civilian award in Australia.

He works as a senior accountant with Woollahra Municipal Council for a living and has been devoting most of his spare time in community work for the last 25 years. He was also awarded for his contributions for seniors in Western Sydney by the Minister for Ageing & Disability.

6. RBI allows NBFCs to offer new pension scheme (NPS).

NBFCs with asset size of Rs500 crore and above that have made a net profit in the preceding financial year be permitted to sell NPS to their clients after registration with the pension regulator.

7. Government to end dual MRP practice from 1st January 2018.

Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs has amended Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities)Rules 2011, in order to protect the consumers from paying different prices at different locations. Pre-packed commodities will be regulated across the country under this newly amended rule.

8. UNESCO has put city of Hebron on its heritage in danger list.

UNESCO declared the Old City of Hebron an endangered world heritage site, sparking outrage from Israel in a new spat at the international body. Meeting in Poland, the UN’s cultural arm voted 12 to three — with six abstentions — to give heritage status to Hebron’s Old City in the occupied West Bank, which is home to more than 200,000 Palestinians and a few hundred Israeli settlers.

9. Jigyasa, a student- scientist connect programme was officially launched in New Delhi.

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), has joined hands with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) to implement this programme. The focus is on connecting school students and scientists so as to extend student’s classroom learning with that of a very well planned research laboratory based learning. The “JIGYASA” would inculcate the culture of inquisitiveness on one hand and scientific temper on the other, amongst the school students and their teachers.

10. Olympics silver medallist PV Sindhu has won the ‘Sportsperson of the Year’ award.

PV Sindhu was bestowed with the ‘Sportsperson of the Year’ award during the ‘Maruti Suzuki Sportsperson of the Year’ Charity Gala Awards. The awards were initiated by Sports Illustrated India and were given to various sportspersons for their achievements. Sindhu’s coach P Gopichand received the ‘Coach of the Year’ award.
