1. India has ranked 43rd position in 2017 Global Retirement Index (GRI).

India was ranked last at 43rd position in 2017 Global Retirement Index (GRI) published by French asset management company Natixis Global. Top three countries in 2017 GRI are Norway, Switzerland and Iceland.

2. The Uttar Pradesh Government has launched Namami Gange Jagriti Yatra.

The drive has been organised by Uttar Pradesh Homeguard volunteers to spread awareness in 25 districts situated on the banks of river Ganga for maintaining the cleanliness and ever-flowing nature of the river.

3. India ratifies 2nd commitment period of ‘Kyoto Protocol’.

India has ratified the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol that commits countries to contain the emission of greenhouse gases, reaffirming its stand on climate action. India deposited its Instrument of Acceptance of the Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol under the UN Convention on Climate Change. Now, India has become the 80th country to accept the amendment relating to the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol, the international emissions reduction treaty.

IDFC Bank has partnered with digital payments company Zeta to launch ‘IDFC Bank Benefits’, an innovative solution for corporates that digitizes employee spends and claims, making the process simple, real-time and paperless. The Zeta app offers employees a real-time view of spends, reimbursement limits and claims.

China has sent an unbreakable code from its quantum satellite to Earth, marking realization of quantum key distribution technology for the 1st time. Satellite sent quantum keys to ground stations in China at a transmission rate up to 20 orders of magnitude more efficient than an optical fiber.

SEBI has introduced an online registration mechanism for custodians of securities to make it convenient for them to do business. The new system will help custodian of securities to complete registration and other regulatory filings with Sebi much faster and in a cost-effective manner.

7. Govt fixes target of installing 60 giga watt wind power capacity by 2022.

Government has fixed an ambitious target of installing 60 giga watt (GW) wind power capacity in the country by 2022. Replying to supplementaries in Lok Sabha today, Power Minister Piyush Goyal said the current wind power installed capacity in the country is over 32.5 GW. The Minister said till 2016-17 the wind power was being procured through Feed in Tariff determined by respective State Electricity Regulators.

8.Israel to build giant underground wall around Gaza Strip.

Israel is pushing ahead with a project to build a giant underground wall around the Gaza Strip to block tunnels that could be used for attacks. The project comes after the government faced heavy criticism over Hamas's use of tunnels in the 2014 Gaza war, with a state inquiry earlier this year accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and army top brass of being unprepared for the threat.

9. Sushma Swaraj wiil attend to attend 15th BIMSTEC meeting at Kathmandu.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will depart for Kathmandu to participate in 15th BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting. During the 2 day meet, Foreign ministers of BIMSTEC countries will review progress in identified 14 areas of cooperation & discuss ways to accelerate cooperation.

10. ‘Conseslus Kipruto’ has won the men's 3,000 meters steeplechase at the IAAF World Athletics Championships.

Olympic gold medallist ‘Conseslus Kipruto’ has won the men's 3,000 meters steeplechase at the IAAF World Athletics Championships in London. The Kenyan clocked eight minutes and 14.12 seconds to continue his in-form performance in the event after the Rio Olympic Games.
