1. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has become the first female actor to host the Indian National Flag at IFFM.

Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has become the first female actor ever to hoist the Indian National Flag at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), Australia’s annual celebration of film from India and the subcontinent. The official Twitter handle of IFFM posted a picture of the 43-year-old actress.

2. T J S George has won the first Kesari Media Award.

Veteran journalist T J S George has been chosen for the first Kesari Media Award, instituted by the Kesari Memorial Journalist Trust. The award comprises a purse of Rs 50,000, citation and a statuette designed by renowned artist Bhatathiri.

3. Tamil Nadu has got exemption from NEET for 2017.

Union Minister Nirmala Sitaraman has said, the Centre would offer its help to Tamil Nadu to exempt the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test NEET for medical admission for this year. Responding to the queries of media on the sidelines of a function in Tambaram, Chennai, she said, the state should promulgate an ordinance to exempt NEET. However, she said it cannot be a permanent feature, only a one-off measure.

4. Jharkhand Assembly has passed Religious Freedom Bill 2017.

The bill aims to stop the forced conversions in the state. The bill will now be sent to the governor, following whose approval it would go to the President for assent. While ruling NDA MLAs hailed it as a legislation that should have been implemented right when Jharkhand became a state, opposition members pointed out that penal provisions already exist in the Indian Penal Code. The Bill has provision for imprisonment of three years and fine of 50,000 rupees or both, and four year imprisonment and 1 lakh rupee fine, or both, if the person converted is a minor, woman or a member of Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe.

5. Norway has the fastest mobile Internet in the world.

According to leader in broadband testing Ookla, Norway has the fastest mobile Internet in the world. Average Internet speed of Norwegians’ mobile phones has increased by 69% during last year & has speed of 52.6 MiB/s. In only 13 months, Norway has jumped from 11th to 1st place on list of world best providers of fast Internet connection. Netherlands & Hungary are ranked no. 2 & 3 on the list

6. I V Subba Rao has appointed the secretary to Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.

Retired IAS officer I V Subba Rao has appointed the secretary to Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu. The Prime Minister's Office cleared the appointment a day on which Naidu assumed charge as the 13th vice president of the country. N Yuvaraj, Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS officer of 2006 batch, will be the private secretary to Naidu.

7. David Rasquinha appointed MD of Exim Bank.

David Rasquinha was today appointed as Managing Director of Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment to the post for three years, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said. Rasquinha is at present Deputy Managing Director of the Exim Bank.

8. Shashi Shekhar Vempati appointed as the chief of Rajya Sabha TV.

Shashi Shekhar Vempati, chief executive officer of public broadcaster Prasar Bharati has been appointed as the chief of Rajya Sabha TV. Vempati will replace Gurdeep Singh Sappal who has been serving as the CEO and editor-in-chief of Rajya Sabha TV since 2011.

9. Legendary sprinter Usain Bolt retires from the Athletics world.

The greatest sprinter of modern times, Usain Bolt today said good bye to the Athletics world. But the farewell ended in agony as he injured himself while running the last lap of the men's 4x100m relay race in the World Athletics Championships in London. Running the final race of his career, the 30-year-old Bolt, after taking the baton from his Jamaican teammate Yohan Blake, suffered cramps on his left hamstring as he tried, in vain, to chase down his rivals in the race.

10.Maheshwari Bags Memorable Bronze at Asian Shotgun Championship.

Shooter Maheshwari Chauhan bagged a bronze medal at the Asian Shotgun Championship to earn India's first women's skeet individual medal at a top international competition in Astana, Kazakhstan.
