1.Ashwani Lohani will be the new Chairman of Railway Board.

Ashwani Lohani will be the new Chairman of Railway Board, the appointment of Mr Lohani, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers, IRSME, was cleared by Appointments Committee of the Cabinet today. He is presently serving as the Chairman and Managing Director of Air India. He has previously served as DRM, Delhi Division, Director of National Rail Museum and Chief Administrative Officer of Rail Alternate Fuel.

2. 3-day 8th World Renewable Energy Technology Congress in New Delhi.

Union Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, Renewable Energy and Mines, Shri Piyush Goyal, addressed the 3-day 8th World Renewable Energy Technology Congress in New Delhi. The annual conference is visualized and planned in the backdrop of India's vision of achieving "Energy Independence and Power for all by 2022". The theme of the conference was "Renewable Energy: What Works".

3. Government will offer 40 per cent reservation for girls at 100 Navodaya-type schools.

According to Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the government has decided to proffer 40 per cent reservation for girls at 100 Navodaya-type schools and five higher education institutes it plans to set up for minority community students. A panel formed by The Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF), a government-funded agency, had recommended a three-tier model to tackle educational backwardness among minorities.

4. Government gave its go ahead to the RBI to issue 200 rupee notes.

The government today gave its go ahead to the RBI to issue 200 rupee notes that will ease pressure on lower-denomination currency bills. Finance Ministry, in a notification, said that on the recommendations of the Central Board of Directors of the RBI, government has notified bank notes of 200 rupees.

5. Uber has tied up with Axis Bank & HDFC Bank for Unified Payments Interface based payments.

Cab hailing firm Uber has tied up with Axis Bank & HDFC Bank for Unified Payments Interface based payments. Apart from payments via credit/debit cards, cash & Paytm, this will be another payment option available to customers. UPI is a payment system launched by NPCI which facilitates instant fund transfer between 2 bank accounts on mobile platform.

6.Rajiv Bansal appointed interim Chairman and MD of Air India.

Rajiv Bansal, the Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor at Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has been appointed as the interim Chairman and Managing Director of Air India, after Ashwani Lohani took over as the Railway Board Chairman. Bansal, a 1988 batch IAS officer, will be serving the additional charge for three months or until further orders.

7. Estonia plans to launch its own cryptocurrency.

The Baltic nation of Estonia is reportedly considering starting its own virtual currency called 'estcoin' to boost its economy. The move is a part of an e-residency programme launched by the country in 2014, under which anyone in the world can become an Estonian digital resident. If implemented, it would be the world's first government-backed initial coin offering (ICO).

8. Google partners with Walmart to offer voice-based shopping.

Retail giant and US' largest company by revenue Walmart on Tuesday announced that it is partnering with Google to enable voice shopping through Google's virtual assistant. This will allow users in the US to order Walmart products just by speaking to the Google Home voice-controlled speaker. The service will compete with Amazon's Alexa voice-shopping platform.

9. According to Forbes 2017 list , Shah Rukh Khan has named India's highest paid actor.

Shah Rukh Khan has been named India's highest paid actor with ₹243.7 crore ($38 million) earnings, beating Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar on the Forbes' 2017 list of World's Highest Paid Actors. SRK was ranked world's eighth highest paid actor with Salman and Akshay at 9th and 10th respectively. Meanwhile, American actor Mark Wahlberg topped the list with $68 million.

10. Karnataka has launched rescue wagon for mass casualties.

Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Monday launched a mass casualty rescue wagon that is capable of transporting 20 patients in one go. The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus, which was converted into the wagon, contains 8 stretchers, oxygen tanks, and defibrillators among other equipment. Maximum road accidents in the country happen in Karnataka.
