1. Venkaiah Naidu has become the 13 th Vice-President of India.

Venkaiah Naidu is going to succeed Hamid Ansari as the new Vice-President of India. Naidu’s victory was a foregone conclusion, the NDA candidate having the support of a majority of MPs who ally with the BJP. The Election Commission said that 771 votes were polled, of which 760 were valid and 11 were valid. Venkaiah Naidu secured 516 and Gopalkrishna Gandhi 241 votes.

2. Veteran Actress Sharada Selected for 'Prem Nazir' Award .

Veteran actress and national award winner Sharada has been selected for this year's Prem Nazir Award. Sharada had won three national awards with the first being for her performance in 1968 tragedy film "Thulabharam".

3. India signs USD 329 million loan pact with AIIB for Gujarat road project.

The objective of the project is to improve the rural road connectivity and accessibility to more than one thousand villages in all the 33 districts of the state benefiting about 80 lakh people. Finance Ministry in a statement said, the agreement was signed yesterday by Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Sameer Kumar Khare and Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, AIIB, D J Pandian.

4.Bengaluru Airport first to be first in India to get HeliTaxi service.

Thumby Aviation, a private helicopter service provider, and Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) have partnered to launch HeliTaxi services from Bengaluru Airport. The helicopter service will initially be launched from Bengaluru Airport to Electronic City and gradually expanded to other parts of the city.

5. Akshay Kumar as the brand ambassador of the Swachh Bharat Mission in the Uttar Pradesh.

The chief minister also announced to make the film tax-free in the state. The chief minister also released the film’s toilet anthem, ‘Karle Toilet Ka Jugar’, which has been sung by the actor himself.

6. two airports in Andhra Pradesh-Tirupati and Vijayawada are going to go completely green.

The work on the same has already begun with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) commencing the process of installing 1 Mega Watt solar power plant at both the airports. The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) in Kerala is the first airport in the world to be completely powered by solar energy.

7. National Handloom Day celebrations held in New Delhi.

National Handloom Day celebrations in collaboration with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Textile was held at Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi today. National Handloom Day is celebrated on 7th August every year. First phase of the event was celebrated at University of Delhi

8. According to Forbes, JK Rowling is the world's most highly-paid author.

Harry Potter creator JK Rowling has been named the world's most highly-paid author with earnings of £72.2m ($95m). It is the first time that Rowling has topped Forbes’ list of the 10 highest earners in the global industry for the first time in almost 10 years.

9. Assam government will distribute 13 lakh Soil Health Cards among farmers.

Assam government is all set to distribute 13 lakh Soil Health Cards among farmers. Participating in an AIR talk show last night, State Agriculture minister Atul Bora said that 1 lakh 41 thousand cards have been distributed from April 2016 to June this year. Mr.Bora said that 214 soil test kits are operational for this purpose.

10. Ankur Mittal wins gold in Asian Shotgun Championship.

ndian shooter Ankur Mittal clinched the individual as well as the team gold medal in men's double trap at the 7th Asian Shotgun Championship today. At Astana, Kazakhstan, Mittal shot 71 in the six-man final to finish at the top of the podium. With scores of Sangram Dahiya and Mohammad Asab added to Mittal's final total, India managed to bag the top prize in the team event also. Dahiya had a score of 43 and Asab had shot 34.
