1. Nirmala Sitharaman has become second women Defence Minister of india.

she has become the first dedicated woman defence minister of India and only the second woman to hold the crucial ministry after Indira Gandhi.Jaitley has been handling the ministry after Manohar Parrikar quit to become the Goa's chief minister. The abrupt departure of Parrikar from the ministry left several critical tasks unfinished, including military reforms that are midway and a battle with the bureaucracy over steps to boost local manufacturing .

2. Fincare Small Finance Bank starts operations with 25 branches.

Fincare Small Finance Bank (previously known as Disha Microfin Limited) on Friday kick-started its banking operations with about 25 operational branches across Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The bank was given final small finance bank (SFB) licence from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in May , 2017. On the day of its launch, the bank raised over Rs. 225 crore of deposits from its about 1000-odd depositors. This forms about 15 per cent of the bank's existing balance sheet of Rs. 2000 crore, which includes Rs. 1,350 crore as loans and advances, Rs. 450 crore as investments besides the deposits.

3. Indian Ocean Conference held in Colombo.

India Foundation, a Delhi-based think tank, hosted the Indian Ocean Conference 2017 (IOC) in collaboration with RSIS, Singapore, and NIFS, Colombo (both research and study centres). Theme of the conference is peace, progress and prosperity.

4. Karnataka has launched unified health scheme 'Arogya Bhagya'.

Karnataka government will be merging the existing seven health schemes to launch a unified scheme- 'Arogya Bhagya' which will cover all 1.4 crore households of the state. The government will issue Aadhaar-linked Universal Health Cards to the residents using which they can avail medical care at government-owned hospitals, medical college hospitals, and empanelled private hospitals for free.

5. IDRBT is developing a model platform for blockchain technology revelvent to banking.

The Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), an arm of the Reserve Bank of India, is developing a model platform for blockchain technology.It’s a type of distributed ledger or decentralised database that keeps records of digital transactions. People generally use a trusted third-party like a bank to make a transaction. But blockchain removes the need for a third-party by directly connecting the customers and suppliers on the same platform.

Nine ministers took the oath and four were promoted as Cabinet ministers as part of the third reshuffle carried out by Mr. Modi. The ministers promoted were Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Dharmendra Pradhan, Piyush Goyal and Nirmala Sitharaman. Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, and Lok Sabha MP from Buxar, Bihar, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, were sworn in as a Ministers of State.

7. Coconut palm declared State tree of Goa.

The BJP-led coalition Cabinet of Goa passed an amendment granting coconut palm the status of “State tree”. “The State government has decided to include coconut palm as tree in the Goa, Daman and Diu (Preservation of ) Trees Act, 1984 to regulate felling of coconut trees under this Act. The action is taken to protect these trees from cutting down.

8. Karnataka Bank has bagged the ‘best bank’ award at the 13th IDRBT Awards.

Karnataka Bank has bagged the ‘best bank’ award among small banks for the use of technology for financial inclusion at the 13th IDRBT Banking Technology Excellence Awards 2016-17. Mahabaleshwara MS, MD & CEO of the bank, received the award from Sudarshan Sen, Executive Director of RBI, in Hyderabad.

9. MS Dhoni has become first wicketkeeper to have 100 ODI stumpings.

MS Dhoni reached another milestone as he became the first wicketkeeper to have 100 stumpings to his names in one-day international. Dhoni surpassed former Sri Lankan wicket-keeper Kumar Sangakkara, who had 99 stumpings in 404 matches. The 36-year old reached the milestone by stumping Akila Dananjaya off Yuzvendra Chahal on the last ball of the 45th over in the fifth and the final ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

10. India became the first visiting country to inflict a 5-0 defeat on Sri Lanka.

India has whitewashed host Sri Lanka 5-nil in One Day International cricket series. By winning all the 5 games, India became the first visiting country to inflict a 5-0 defeat on Sri Lanka. India had, earlier, also whitewashed the 3-match Test series. Indian Captain Virat Kohli made 30th ODI hundred in his only 194th game and is now jointly second highest in list of century makers alongside Ricky Ponting with only Sachin Tendulkar (49 hundreds) ahead of him.
