1. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has appointed as the new Youth Affairs and Sports Minister.

Olympic silver-medallist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore being appointed as the new Youth Affairs and Sports Minister. The 47-year-old Rathore was up until now serving as the Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting. Rathore also won multiple medals at the Commonwealth and Asian Games. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2005. Rathore served as a commissioned officer in The Grenadiers regiment of the Indian Army before retiring in 2013 as a colonel.

2. Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani has launched ‘Gyankunj e-class project’.

On the occasion of Teachers Day, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has launched ‘Gyankunj e-class project’ at Shahpur primary school in Gandhinagar. The entire project will work on the pilot basis with Interactive e-class room and smart boards have been provided under this initiative. 1609 government primary schools have been provided a laptop, projector, infrared camera, smart board, speaker and WiFi router facilities for 3,173 class rooms of standard 7 and 8.

3. Astronaut Peggy Whitson returns to Earth after 665 days in space.

Astronaut Peggy Whitson returned to Earth, wrapping up a record-breaking flight that catapulted her to first place for U.S. space endurance. Whitson’s 665 days off the planet 288 days on this mission alone exceeds that of any other American and any other woman worldwide.She also became the first woman to command the space station twice.

4. NITI Aayog has launched National Nutrition Strategy.

NITI Aayog has launched the National Nutrition Strategy aimed at Kuposhan Mukt Bharat. Leader of the Green Revolution (Dr M S Swaminathan) and Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog (Dr Rajiv Kumar) have jointly launched the Nutrition Strategy in New Delhi. It intends at bringing nutrition to the centre-stage of the National Development Agenda and lays the roadmap for targeted action to address India's nutritional needs.

5.‘Prakriti Khoj’- An Environment Quiz on Teachers’ Day has conducted by Union Environment Ministry.

The Union Environment Ministry launched an environment awareness initiative on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. Under the initiative, an online environmental quiz competition named Prakriti Khoj will be conducted at the national level. The objective of the quiz is to generate interest among school children about the science related to environment.

6. Infosys Co-founder N R Narayana Murthy conferred with PLuS Alliance Prize 2017.

N R Narayana Murthy (Infosys co-founder) for Global Leadership and Veena Sahajwalla (scientist) have been conferred the PLuS Alliance Prize 2017 for the development and implementation of innovative solutions to significant global issues.

7. Union Health Ministry Launched Two New Contraceptives Antara and Chhaya.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched two new contraceptives- an injectable contraceptive MPA under the ‘Antara’ program and a contraceptive pill ‘Chhaya’ in the public health system to expand the basket of contraceptive choices for couples. The ‘Antara’ injectable is effective for three months and the ‘Chayya’ pill is effective for one week.

8. President Laid Foundation Stone of SAUNI Yojana.

President Ram Nath Kovind laid the foundation stone of the second phase of link IV pipeline canal of Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation (SAUNI) Yojana in Rajkot, Gujarat. The first phases of link I, II, and III of the SAUNI Project have been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The project is aimed at bringing the waters of Narmada River to the reservoirs of parched Saurashtra region.

9.R A Sankara Narayanan has taken charge as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Vijaya Bank.

R A Sankara Narayanan has taken charge as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Vijaya Bank. He has taken over the reigns of the bank from Kishore Sansi, who reached superannuation on August 31. He joined Bank of India as a direct recruit officer in 1983 and has headed various branches.

10. Amritpal Sing is the First Indian to be Signed by Australian Basketball Team.

Captain of Indian basketball team Amritpal Singh created history by becoming the first Indian player to be signed by an Australian Basketball team. He will be a part of the Sydney Kings during their pre-season tour where they will also take on the game against Utah Jazz side.
