1. Cabinet approves MoC between India and Japan on the "Technical Intern Training Program (TITP)."

This MoC is expected to be signed during the forthcoming visit of Hon'ble Minister for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship during October, 16-18, 2017 at Tokyo. The Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) is an ambitious program to send Indian technical interns to Japan for on the job training for a period of three to five years.

2. SBI to set up country's largest innovation centre at Mumbai.

The nation's largest lender State Bank of India is creating a 15,000-sqft innovation centre in Navi Mumbai investing around Rs 100 crore.The centre, to be built at its Global IT Centre in Belapur in Navi Mumbai, will be the largest innovation centre by any financial services company in the country.The innovation centre is part of a Rs 200-crore allocation that the bank has earmarked for innovation .

The Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) has introduced a free bicycle ride scheme for its customers. It has tied up with a private agency to provide 100-hours of bicycle ride free of cost every month. The free ride is available in four metro stations including in Ekkattuthangal, Nehru Park, Thirumangalam and Anna Nagar Tower.

The report, detailed in the newly released e-book "The Indian Pharma and Biotech Industry", showed that while New Delhi, Kolkata, and Chandigarh are thriving grounds for talent in this sector in India, talent migration is highest to the US.

5. Smriti Irani has inaugurated 44th Indian Handicrafts and Gifts-Delhi Fair.

Textiles Minister Smriti Irani today inaugurated the 44th edition of Indian Handicrafts and Gifts (IHGF)-Delhi Fair at India Expo Centre and Mart on the outskirts of Delhi in Greater Noida. Speaking on the occasion Mrs Irani said, that from the implementation of GST throughout corrective measures that are undertaken, the textile ministry has had very productive engagements through which it has managed to provide a lot of ground support and legal and procedural, support to the industry.

6.SpaceX launches rocket, landed successfully on ocean platform.

US aerospace manufacturer and space transport services company SpaceX today launched a rocket that had already flown to space and landed it successfully on an ocean platform, as part of its ongoing effort to recycle costly rocket components. The Falcon 9 rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida carrying the Echostar 105/SES-11 satellite.

7. HSBC has appointed John Flint as its next chief executive.

HSBC has appointed John Flint as its next chief executive. Flint currently runs HSBC's retail and wealth management business. He will start in his new role on February 21, 2018 He will take over from current chief executive Stuart Gulliver, who is retiring after seven years in the job

8. NABARD Buys Additional 7% stake in SIDBI from IDBI Bank.

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has bought an additional 7% stake in Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) for Rs 900 crore from public sector lender IDBI Bank Ltd. This is the largest investment made by the apex rural financial institution so far, and raises its total shareholding in Sidbi to 10%.

9. Gurusaidutt has won Bulgarian International.

Commonwealth Games bronze medallist RMV Gurusaidutt clinched the men's singles title at the Bulgarian International Future Series tournament. Gurusaidutt, who played in a tournament in May after returning from an injury suffered during the US Open in July last year, defeated Muhammed Ali Kurt 21-17 21-16 in a 35- minute match to boost his confidence ahead of next month's Senior Nationals Championship.

10. Indian pacer Ashish Nehra has confirmed his retirement from International Cricket.

Indian pacer Ashish Nehra has confirmed his retirement from International Cricket. He will play his last match against New Zealand on November 1, 2017. The 38-year-old has represented India for 18 years. He has played 17 Tests, 120 ODIs and 26 T20Is for India, taking 235 international wickets.
