A jury headed by ace novelist M Mukundan chose Varma for the prestigious award, considering his contribution to Malayalam literature. The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 75,000 a plaque and a citation, was instituted by the Padma Prabha Memorial Trust .His major works include 'Chandananaazhi','Kalaprayaaga', 'Avicharithram' and 'Manjinotu Veyil Enna Poleyum'. |

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has launched Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the ambitious ‘Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojna’ in the presence of the farmers at the Krishi Upaj Mandi in Khurai, Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh.The objective of this scheme is to ensure reasonable prices to the farmers for their agriculture produces and thereby protecting them from losses suffered on account of distress sale.Under this scheme, farmers will be compensated the difference between Minimum Support Price (declared by Union Government) and the actual sale price or Model Price, whichever is higher. Model Price will be the average market prices for a particular commodity over a two-month period in Madhya Pradesh and two other states where the crop is grown and traded. |

6.Banks to Provide Funds at 7% to Women Self Help Groups Under DAY-NRLM. The RBI on Wednesday said banks will provide funds to women SHGs (self help groups) in rural areas at 7 percent under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) in the current fiscal. The central bank issued the revised guidelines on interest subvention scheme under DAY-NRLM, as received from the Ministry of Rural Development for implementation by 21 public sector banks and 19 private banks. "All women SHGs will be eligible for interest subvention on credit upto Rs 3 lakh at 7 percent per annum... Banks will lend to all the women SHGs in rural areas at the rate of 7 percent".Banks will be subvented to the extent of difference between the Weighted Average Interest Charged and 7 percent subject to the maximum limit of 5.5 per cent for the year 2017-18. |
7. Ministry of Women and Child Development is undertaking an online campaign #IamThatWoman. Through the campaign, the Ministry seeks to highlight the various aspects of women standing ‘by’ and ‘for’ women. Ministry of WCD has urged people to shun stereotypes associated with women harming other women. Twitter and Facebook users have been encouraged to tag and share stories of women helping women with a photograph and post online with the hashtag #IamThatWoman. |
