1. Arunachal pradesh Assembly has approved Kamle as 23rd district.

The Arunachal Assembly today passed a bill paving way for creation of a new district to be named Kamle, bifurcating the present Upper and Lower Subansiri districts. With the official creation of the new district, the total number of districts in the state shot up to 23.Kamle district, constituting the eastern part of Lower Subansiri district and western part of Upper Subansiri district, would have a population of 22,256 of homogeneous people. It consists of six administrative units, three under Lower Subansiri and three under Upper Subansiri.

2. India signs pact to send interns to Japan for training.

India has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Japan to send youngsters there as technical interns for on-the-job training for a period of three to five years. The MoC on Technical Intern Training Programme (TITP) was signed by Union Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on behalf of the Government of India with Katsunobu Kato, Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan here. “The MoC on TITP is expected to significantly expand the bilateral cooperation between India and Japan in the field of skill development”.

3. Google has emerged as the most authentic brand in india.

Search engine giant Google has emerged as the most authentic brand in the country, followed by Microsoft, Amazon, Maruti Suzuki and Apple, according to New York-based global communications firm Cohn & Wolfe. Sony, YouTube, BMW, Mercedes Benz and British Airways are the other brands to feature in the top 10.

4. Environmental scientist Schellnhuber receives Blue Planet Prize.

The world's most prestigious award for pioneers in environmental science was given to Hans Joachim Schellnhuber this week in Tokyo. He is Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), a member of the Leibniz Association. The Blue Planet Prize, coming along with 50 million yen, honors outstanding thinkers who help to meet challenges of planetary dimensions.

5. Myntra, Textile Ministry Tie-up to Promote Handloom Industry.

E-commerce major Myntra launched its CSR initiative in association with the Union Textile Ministry, to work directly with weavers and elevate their economic stature. With an initiative to uplift the handloom products in India, the company (Myntra) is committing itself along with some of its partner brands to bring artisans and their products online, providing them access to new customers and opportunities.

6. First Ever Tri-Services India-Russia War Exercise - Indra - has Begun in Russia.

Over 400 Army personnel and multiple units of Air Force and Navy have arrived in Russia to participate in the first ever India-Russia Tri-Services war games. The 10-day mega military exercise named Indra will primarily focus on achieving coordination between forces of the two countries in a tri-services integrated theatre command scenario.

7. Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates 1st phase of PNG Supply System in Bhubaneswar.

Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has inaugurated the first phase of Piped Natural Gas supply system in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. In the first phase, 255 houses in Nalco Nagar in Chandrasekharpur of Bhubaneswar were supplied with environment-friendly PNG. As part of the City Gas Distribution project, around 25 thousand households in twin-city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack would get PNG connection by end of next year.

8. Income Tax dept Launches ‘Online Chat’ to answer Taxpayers Queries.

The Income Tax Department has launched an ‘online chat’ service for taxpayers so that they can seek answers to their basic queries and doubts relating to direct tax issues. A window has been hosted on the main page of the department’s website — www.incometaxindia.gov.in/ — with a prominent icon stating ‘Live Chat Online - ask your query.’

9. World Statistics Day observed globally on 20th October .

Theme for 2017 is 'Better Data, Better Lives' This is the second World Statistics Day. This year’s theme emphasizes the critical role of high-quality official statistical information in analysis and informed policy decision-making in support of sustainable development. The first World Statistics Day was celebrated in 2010, as decided in resolution 64/267, and was deemed an overwhelming success, with activities organized in more than 130 Member States and by at least 40 international and regional organizations and entities.

10. Maharashtra government releases Rs 4,000 crore in phase 1 of loan waiver scheme.

The Maharashtra government has released a sum of Rs 4,000 crore under the first phase of the over Rs 34,000 crore farm loan waiver scheme, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on October 18. Disbursal, in the first phase, will cover more than 8 lakh farmers, Fadnavis said as he listed initiatives taken by his government towards increasing investment in the agriculture sector.
