1. Andhra CM Chandra babu Naidu receives Golden Peacock Award. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been honoured with the prestigious Golden Peacock Award in the London Global Convention held in London. The Chief Minister was awarded in the category of "Global Leadership in Public Service and Economic Transformation" by the Institute of Directors for Leadership in Transferring Governance on Wednesday night. Naidu was awarded for excelling in public services. This category was introduced for the first time by the Institute of Directors. The Chief Minister is driving the state of Andhra Pradesh to achieve double digit growth. Naidu in his acceptance speech said that no other country except India has the potential to achieve double digit growth in the near future. |
2. Burundi becomes first country to leave International Criminal Court. Burundi has become the first country to withdraw from the International Criminal Court, but officials say the court’s prosecutor will move ahead with an examination of the East African nation’s deadly political turmoil. An ICC spokesman confirmed that the pullout took effect Friday, a year after Burundi notified the United Nations secretary-general of its intention to leave the court that prosecutes the world’s worst atrocities. |

The uptick Amazon shares registered on Wall Street this Friday has directly affected the fortune of its founder, Jeff Bezos, who immediately replaced Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates as the richest person in the world. According to Forbes, the fortune of Amazon's founder reached some $90.6 billion, compared with the $90.1 billion that the online edition of the magazine attributes to Gates. |
4.Reliance Industries touches ₹6 lakh crore in market capitalisation. Over a two-fold rise in the share price of Reliance Industries since November 9 last year has made it the first Indian company to touch ₹6 trillion market-cap. As on Thursday’s closing price RIL’s market-cap on the BSE stood at ₹5,99,873 crore and it briefly touched ₹6 trillion as the stock hit an intraday high of ₹958 before closing at ₹947. Traders and investors have lapped-up RIL shares even while the company was yet to achieve a profits from its telecom venture. Market analysts said RIL was getting a premium due to its rapid customer acquisition strategies in domestic telecom market. |

To empower farmers with technology-oriented solutions like Cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced analytics, Karnataka government on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft India. As part of the MoU, Microsoft with guidance from the Karnataka Agricultural Price Commission (KAPC), Department of Agriculture will develop a multi-variant agricultural commodity price forecasting model. |

7. India overtakes US to become second largest smartphone market. After a wobble in Q2 2017, India’s smartphone market recovered quickly, with shipments growing 23% year on year in Q3 2017 to reach just over 40 million units. India has now overtaken the United States to become the world’s second largest smartphone market after China. Samsung and Xiaomi, which shipped 9.4 million and 9.2 million units respectively, accounted for almost half of the total market as the top five vendors continued to post strong growth in Q3 2017. |
8. Ram Gopal Bajaj selected for Kalidas Samman 2017. Veteran theatre actor-director Ram Gopal Bajaj will be felicitated with Kalidas Samman, instituted by the Madhya Pradesh government, for his work in the field of theatre. The award will be given in the presence of dignitaries at the All India Kalidas Festival in Ujjain on October 31.In 1975, in Ujjain, we did a play on Kalidasa at a festival. After that too, I have been doing something or the other on the subject. It was a play based on Kalidasa's life. The award by his name has been given to our gurus over the years. |
9. 36th edition of National Games to held next year . The 36th edition of National Games will be held next year from November 4 to 17. Sports Authority of Goa has finalised dates of the Games to be held after a lot of delays. There was uncertainty over the dates of the 30-discipline event ever since the Games were awarded to the State in 2011. The Games were originally scheduled to be held in November 2016 but the Goa administration requested a postponement at the Indian Olympic Association’s Annual General Meeting due to assembly elections in the State. |
