1. India has topped list of new tuberculosis cases in 2016: Global TB Report.

India topped the list of seven nations, accounting for 64 percent of the 10.4 million new tuberculosis (TB) cases worldwide in 2016, according to the Global TB Report 2017. As per the report, released by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on Monday, India saw 27.9 lakh TB cases in 2016, which was down marginally from the previous year’s 28.4 lakh, though. The country also recorded 4.23 lakh TB deaths (without HIV) in 2016, a slight dip from the 4.8 lakh deaths in 2015.

2. India sends the first shipment to Afghanistan via Iran’s Chabahar port.

India has sent its first consignment of wheat to Afghanistan through the Chabahar port in Iran, seen as a "landmark" move to operationalise the new strategic transit route, bypassing Pakistan. The shipment was flagged off from the Kandla port in Gujarat with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her Afghan counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani joining the ceremony through video conferencing.

3. PM Modi Inaugurated Bidar-Kalaburagi New Railway Line in Karnataka.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Bidar - Kalaburagi New Railway Line to the Nation by unveiling a plaque at Bidar Railway Station, in Karnataka. Prime Minister also flagged off the DEMU Service between Bidar and Kalaburagi.

4.Centre and World Bank sign $200 Million loan agreement for Agribusiness in Assam.

The Government of India and the World Bank signed a $200 Million loan pact for the development of Agro-business and rural transformation in Assam state. The project is expected to be implemented in over 16 districts of the state benefitting over 5 Lakh farming households. At least 30 percent women are expected to participate in project activities. Specific focus will be given to women-led enterprises and their participation in the decision-making process of farmer producer organizations.

5.Kenyan President Kenyatta declared winner of controversial election re-run.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has been declared the winner of ​controversial ​repeat presidential election even though no voting took place in 25 of the 290 constituencies because of deadly protests by supporters of opposition leader Raila Odinga. The announcement is likely to further colour the credibility of a process that has been marred by divisions within the electoral commission, confusion over turnout, intimidation of supreme court judges and a boycott by Mr Odinga.

6.Saudi to allow women into sports stadiums from 2018.

Saudi Arabia will allow women into three sports stadiums for the first time from next year, authorities said Sunday, in a landmark move that would open up the previously male-only venues to families. The kingdom, which has some of the world's tightest restrictions on women, has long barred women from sports arenas by strict rules on segregation of the sexes in public. The announcement is in line with powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's ambitious reform drive shaking up the ultra-conservative kingdom.

7. Union Minister Ramdas Athawale launches Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana in Mumbai.

Union Minister for state for social justice and empowerment, Ramdas Athawale launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana in Mumbai. The Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana has been launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an objective of making quality medicines available at affordable prices to all, particularly to the poor and underprivileged, through exclusive outlets. Jan Aushadhi Medical store is set up with an aim to reduce out of pocket expenses in healthcare.

8.Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar Assumes Charge as the Vice Chief of Naval Staff.

Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P, AVSM, VSM has assumed charge as the Vice Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) from Vice Admiral Karambir Singh AVSM at a formal ceremony held in New Delhi. Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P, AVSM, VSM is an alumni of the National Defence Academy.

9.Modi flags off ‘Run for Unity’ on Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off a run to commemorate the 142nd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel here. The Run for Unity, which began from the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, saw the participation of a large number of people, including sports personalities like Sardar Singh, Deepa Karmakar, Suresh Raina and Karnam Malleswari. The 1.5 km run here came to an end near the India Gate C-Hexagon-Shah Jahan Road radial.

10.Jasprit Bumrah secures top spot in ICC T20 rankings.

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah climbed to the number one spot in the latest ICC T20 rankings while his fifth-ranked team could go as high as second if it beats New Zealand in the three-match series beginning here tomorrow. Bumrah, who attained a career-best third position in the ODI rankings on Monday, has regained the T20 top spot after Pakistan spinner Imad Wasim slipped one place. India captain Virat Kohli, who on Monday edged AB de Villiers to claim the top ranking in ODIs, also goes into the New Zealand series as the top-ranked batsman in the shortest format.
