1.GIFT City's IFSC Bags 10th Place in Global Financial Centres Index. Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City)'s International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) has bagged the 10th spot in the latest edition of Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI), London. GIFT IFSC is ranked tenth, ahead of Luxembourg, Seoul, Abu Dhabi, Toronto and Beijing in the list of the GFCI report, which has 15 centres that are likely to become more significant in the next few years. |
2. Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 to be Held in Hyderabad. The 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit will be held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre from November 28 to 30. The Summit will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Advisor to the US President, Ivanka Trump, who leads the US delegation. The GES is the pre-eminent annual gathering of emerging entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders from around the world. |

Brenda Hale, the first female president of the supreme court, and Sir Ian Burnett, the youngest lord chief justice for 50 years, have been sworn in at the opening of the legal year. For the first time, Nepal and India will undertake a joint tiger census next month in their national parks, forests and protected areas adjoining the two countries using a globally-recognised method Conservation authorities and experts would install cameras in various locations in tiger habitats as well as in buffer zones to capture and track the movements of the big cat. |

Ministry of Health adjudged ‘best department’ for Swachhta Pakhwada The Union Health Ministry has been declared as the “best department” for its contribution to Swachhta Pakhwada, an inter-ministry initiative organised by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation to promote cleanliness in government offices and health facilities. The award was presented to the Health Ministry on Monday, on the third anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission.The Swachhta Pakhwada, observed from February 1 to 15 this year, saw several ministries and government departments organising activities to promote hygiene in their offices, centrally funded hospitals and public health facilities across 36 states and UTs. |
6.Ram Nath Kovind has appointed a 5-member Committee headed G Rohini to examine sub-categorization of OBCs. President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed a five-member Committee. The Committee will be headed by Delhi High Court's former Chief Justice G Rohini to examine sub-categorization of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) under Article 340 of the Constitution. The commission will examine the extent of inequitable distribution of benefits of reservation among the castes . |
7. Chandrababu Naidu launches 'Swachh Andhra Mission' on Gandhi Jayanti. Taking the cue from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Mission, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Monday launched Swachh Andhra Mission on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Ace shuttler PV Sindhu, who has been chosen as the brand ambassador of Swachh Andhra along with state minister for Information Technology and Rural Development Nara Lokesh and public representatives, were the dignitaries who joined Naidu on this occasion. |

NHAI has launched multilingual website and PMIS Mobile App. The Chairman of National Highways Authority of India Shri Deepak Kumar launched a world-class, new multilingual website of the organization. He also launched a Project Monitoring Information System (PMIS) Moblie App that will facilitate close, in-house monitoring of NHAI projects on a mobile phone. |
9. Madurai’s Meenakshi Temple named best ‘Swachh Iconic Place’ in India. The Madurai City Corporation is set to receive a special award from the Centre as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple has been adjudged best ‘Swachh Iconic Place’ in India as on October 1. Ten spots were identified by the Central Government as part of the ‘Swachh Iconic Places’ initiative earlier this year. Madurai District Collector K. Veera Raghava Rao and Corporation Commissioner S. Aneesh Sekhar will receive the award on October 2 from Uma Bharati, the Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation. |
10. India to top global remittances chart with $65 billion in 2017. India is expected to retain it position as the top remittances receiving country, with its diaspora set to pump in a whopping 65 billion US Dollars in the year 2017. Ahead of the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, a report issued by the global lender said that remittances, which include flows to high-income countries, are projected to grow by 3.9 per cent to 596 billion dollar. Remittances to India, the world’s largest remittance recipient, will grow by 4.2 per cent in 2017 to 65 billion dollar following a decline of nine per cent in 2016. |
