The theme of 2017 World Teachers’ Day is “Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers”. 2. Airtel gets approval for Tigo Merger. Bharti Airtel has received Ghana’s National Communications Authority’s approval for the merger between Bharti Ghana (Airtel) and Millicom Ghana (Tigo), subject to certain conditions. This merger will result in an entity which will be the second largest mobile network operations in the country. The merger was first announced in March this year. To ensure efficient and equitable distribution and access to the spectrum, the merged entities will have to submit a network integration plan to the authority which will indicate how they intend to relinquish portions of their total spectrum allocation. |

The 8th conference of the Association of SAARC Speakers and Parliamentarians (ASSP) will take place from October 4 to 6 at the Hotel Hilton in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Association of SAARC Speakers and Parliamentarians was set up in 1992 with the vision to promote friendship and understanding amongst the peoples of South Asia. HDFC Life Insurance Company has launched Neo — a servicing bot for Twitter that uses artificial intelligence for customer service. The insurer hopes to deploy the bot in answering policy —related queries on social media. Other life insurers like PNB Metlife have launched VR humanoids like Kushi leveraging the power of AI, chat bots, natural language processing. This is the second bot put in operation by HDFC Life, after the launch of SPOK, which was an email bot to answer customer queries. |
7. Ukhnaa Khurelsukh will be 30th Prime Minister of Mongolia . The Mongolian Parliament confirmed Ukhnaa Khurelsukh as the country's new Prime Minister. His confirmation comes after Jargaltulga Erdenebat was voted out of office over allegations of corruption and incompetence. |

International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize - 2017 for its work to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons and for its ground-breaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of such weapons. The 2017 Peace Prize calls upon nuclear-armed states to initiate negotiations to the gradual elimination of the world’s 15,000 nuclear weapons. |
10. Pooja Kadian bagged India's first ever gold medal at Wushu World Championships. Pooja Kadian created history as she bagged India's first ever gold medal at Wushu World Championships in Russia. Pooja, an ace Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF) Wushu champion, finished on top of the podium in the 75 kg women's Sanda Category after defeating Evgeniya Stepanova of Russia in the final. She had earlier defeated Egypt's Heba Abdelkader 2-0 in the semifinals to reach the finals of the 14th edition of the World Wushu Championships being held at Kazan, Russia. Four other Indians also landed on the podium in the World Championships. |
